Anybody else find themselves having an extra spring in their step this week????…
Or maybe, you just realized how nice it was not having to take your steaks off the grill and bring them inside to the artificial light..... in order to cut a slice and see if they were done.
Long story short…….I dare anyone to explain to me, WITHOUT GOOGLING IT!!!, why we allow busybody inferior politicians to tell us what fricking time it is. And how blindly doing so....year after year.....makes us any better than mindless subservient robots.

I believe the original claim was that it gave farmers and other occupations that needed all the daylight they could get the extra time needed. theoretically of course...

I'm confused to where you're going with this. People still work their 40 hours a week with or without DST.

I was educated to know that Ben Franklin came up with the scheme to save lamp oil in Boston.
At the higher latitude, they got more daylight in the winter than in the lower latitude, or some shite, and it was about saving lamp oil.

Deeprig is correct about Ben Franklin's reasoning for the idea. I don't think it was actually implemented until WWI though.

why not take it a step farther....who decided that a second was a second...what is time? most ancient people went by moon phases....now we have hours, minutes, etc...wtf?

Moon phases were divided by shadows off a sun dial. After spending several thousand years marking off patterns on the sundial, they pretty much had the day figured out in very small increments. Moon phase marked the month.
