Basically it will eliminate the need to divisions to have a Championship game in the conference.

So the ACC will be able to manipulate the conference schedules as well as pick what two teams will play for their conference championship.

Their conference football wise is such a dumpster fire.

lol wut?

The ACC is signing its own death warrant if this passes.

This would make it FAR easier to poach them down the line b/c then the 4 team pod system in a 16+ team conference would be feasible

I was about to post this...

Read it, and thought about the consequences, would there be any really?

In stead of taking the top two from a the divisions, you take the top ranked for the games.

2 could be in the west or south... SC would be in trouble most of the time..

Hope it passes. Every SEC school could protect two games and rotate 6. Auburn's two would be Bama and UGA. UGA would get Auburn and Florida. Bama would get Auburn and UT. LSU gets Bama and Florida.

If that's the case, Arkansas calls dibs on Kentucky and Tennessee.

Of course they're doing this. The division that doesn't have Clemson and FSU in it is absolute dogshit.

I posted a thread on this when I first heard of it

I still think its paving the way for 4 divisions of 4 teams

I think it would be more of picking the two most likely to have a good year.

Set up a schedule where they do not face each other in the regular season, easy overall.

Pick them to play for the championship, hope the winner goes to the playoffs.

Too much money involved, to few playoff spots, too many conferences competing for a spot.

The SEC should do the same. Get rid of the divisions and rotate 7 opponents with 2 locked. Best records/highest ranked/ whatever plays in the championship.

This would be pretty cool. I just hope it wouldn't go back to the old SEC pre-1992 schedules where teams were a lot more "cliquey" in their schedules.

BTW, if Bama's 2 games were AU & UT, then LSU couldn't have Bama as one of their 2 permanent teams.

LSU, aTm, Arkansas, and Mizzou would end up in some combination with one another, most likely.

Auburn, Tennessee, Bama, and Florida (Tenn/UGA)/ UGA ( Florida/Auburn)

Everyone else.

You're kind of describing the old way of scheduling in the SEC. For instance Bama more often than not played AU, UT, OM, MSU, Vandy, and LSU (to some extent) every year and rarely played anyone else. It wasn't a whole lot different than it is now, just without divisions.

It's a 4 team playoff, not a 64 team playoff. Why would they even match their two highest ranked teams? Just match their highest ranked team against the worst team in the conference to play for the title in order to all-but-guarantee their highest-ranked team doesn't get upset.

Right but with this rule you could have 4 divisions and just pick the two with the best record instead of having a conference tourney with the 4 division champs
