On a team like Alabama or LSU, I say yes. Les and Saban always get their players to play hard for them for 60 minutes. Spurrier on the other hand is more laid back and that enabled Clowney to underperform and take plays off.

Tell me about Cyrus Kouandjio and why he gave up at the Combine and the Pro Day?

Well yeah he would have won a title with Auburn last year.

You could make an argument for Mizzou, but what do you mean? He is a top 3 pick. How exactly do you thrive more?

Think you should add Florida to that list as well, and I agree. Though you have to wonder if that is part of the reason he chose Carolina in the first place.

The guy knew he was going first round in the NFL draft since he was a high school senior as long as he stayed healthy and showed off a little bit in college, and thats what Spurrier let him do IMO.

Terrible post. Clowney was unstoppable his first two years. Hell his third year too. That's why teams ran away from him all year. He was a star on SCs team along with being a hometown hero. Spurrier coulda used him on offense to but didn't maybe because of lattimore. He also realized along with everyone else that Clowney was gonna be a multimillionaire in three years. Gotta respect OBC for not killing him in college. Could he have been a better college player? Probably. But college football players aren't a commodity for us to use up. College was simply a necessary hurdle between him and his career. Kid will be an awesome pro. Seems like a great young man always smiling he'll I'm definitely pulling for him.

It didn't seem like he ever wanted to compete for championships. His goal was just stay injury free to make the big bucks. So I think he did perfect at SC.

He'll be drafted this year, that's how he's doing. Your're an idiot to think Clowney wouldn't have thrived on the best defense in the SEC

Yeah dude, lets forget about his accolades in his first 2 seasons that include All-American status, top 6 Heisman voting, Clemson stadium records, etc etc.

Seems about right. Worked out nicely for him from an NFL standpoint. Did "enough" in college to secure a high draft pick and that seemed to be enough for him.

or LSU

When fellow 5 Star DE Frank Herron won his Freshman All SEC and All American awards this year, like Clowney did his FR year at USC, why didn't anyone publicize it or make any mention of it on any single media outlet?

Did the other LSU top rated DE Jared Allen overshadow him? I saw Allen got 2 sacks this year, his 4th year at LSU, that's awesome.

Dude tore his ACL 2 times. He is doing just fine, and will still get drafted. Based on his ranking, he was a bust, but that really isn't on the coaches. He just never had the explosiveness at DE, and he had a tough time getting off blocks. An NFL team will like his measurables and athleticism though. Powell did improve under Lawing, from a technique standpoint. Lawing was a major influence on Clowney as well, from a teaching standpoint.
