Who is Your Favorite Team in Each Conference?

I know we are all Aggies, but who do you like the most (or hate the least) in each conference?
Big 10: Michigan St. because I like their hoops team and I admire what they do on the football field. I also respect that they deal with one of two programs (USC being the other) that can really compare to the sip's whole ME ME ME circus.
ACC: I seem pretty bandwagon picking FSU but I have always liked them. I admire their sticking to traditions and dealing with a powerful instate rival.
Big 12: KSU is my traditional pick here because I think the wizard is amazing and they don't fight us for recruits. But I think I could grow to love the "upgrade" WVU if they would play like an upgrade and spoil some Big 12 playoff hopes.
Pac 12: UCLA by far by far. Such awesome style. The Pac 12 also features one of my most hated teams in Oregon, who have ruined jerseys in college football and been a thorn in recruiting.
Bonus non-Big 5: I will always be a Tulane fan at some level (NEVER like A&M or the Saints though). Go green wave!

Big Ten: Penn State. Joe Pa and the classic unis. Gotta love that.
PAC 14: wazzu for now. I want the Pirate to really blow shite up over there.
Big XII: as a whole, K State. But in Texas, it's Tech for me. Love to see them hammer the sips.
ACC: Florida State, damn near by default. It will NEVER be Miami

B1G - agree on MSU. They are not super boring like most of their schools or super annoying like the big schools. Always been an Izzo fan too
PAC - Stanford. I respect the hell out of them and the way they do business. It's nice to finally see them doing well on the gridiron. UDub would be my backup
Big 12 - this is harder and people are going to get on me, but Tech. I've always had a soft spot for them. Most younger Ags hate them but they were just a bunch of hard working west Texas guys when I was in school. Plus I love Leach. I don't care. I'll say it. He cracks me all the way up. Hated losing to him, but he's got soul, man.
ACC - Duke. I started liking them in middle school when they sent me some crap to take the SAT. I wanted to go there at the time (that changed and I never applied). But I like Coach K. I hate myself bc it makes me a front-runner though
Non-Big 5 - Rice. I have and always will root for them. I've got family connections there and probably have seen more Rice football games than 99% of Rice alums (the joke here is that means one). I still have a baseball signed by their entire first CWS team in '97 my grandfather gave me before he passed. Unfortunately he didn't make it long enough to see them win their first Natty (in any sport btw) in '03.

I remember that Duke talent search stuff. Made me waste a perfectly good Saturday sitting in a stuffy classroom in Zachary.

Georgia Tech: I always liked this "Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech" thing, and how they drive that old jalopy out on the field for the team's entrance. The car, itself, has an interesting history.
UCLA: I always liked those powder blue unis, for some reason. I guess it's no surprise that I like the old San Diego Chargers unis from their AFL days, too.

ACC: Clemson. I've heard great things about the stadium experience and town, and they have the rural university with military history thing like us
Big 12: probably Iowa State. Their fan site Wide Right Natty Lite is excellent, its an SB Nation blog now like GBH but its been around for awhile and the fan comments on there are usually hilarious. Very self deprecating
PAC 12: I don't really like or hate any PAC teams outside hating Oregon. Ill say ASU because coeds
B1G: if it wasn't for Pelini I'd say Nebraska but frick him. I just don't like the B1G at all honestly. When I think Big Ten football I think being hungover and flipping on ESPN2 at 10 AM to see Indiana and Minnesota kicking off in 40 degree drizzle with Pam Ward on the mic. Ill say Purdue because Sumlin and they ran a wide open offense way before it was cool
Others: I actively root for Rice baseball because I've had friends play for them. I like seeing UH do well too as long as it never reaches the point where it impedes on us. That's about it

Big 10: Ohio State because the Reserve unit attached to my last command in the Navy was based out of Columbus. Once a month I would fly out to teach a few classes over the weekend and spent an inordinate amount of time down on High Street.
Big 12: frick the entire bunch of them
Pac 12: I have always really liked Stanford.
ACC: I honestly rarely think of any of these schools, but if pressed I would probably pick BC.
Non Big 5: Not even close. NAVY! Fear the Goat!

You know back in Big 12 days I really liked them, and I loved that site. There fans seemed cool and reasonable and it is AAU.
But as we were leaving, the melt from their fans and that site in particular was off the charts. I get it in retrospect that if the Big 12 collapsed they were screwed but at the time having once of the better Big 12 sites and fanbases spew anti-Aggie venom "ruined" whatever I found to like about the Big 12.
I guess we can all thank them for beating OSU and forcing a college football playoffs. But nowadays what I care about is some sort of Big 12 spoiler to ruin chances at the playoffs for nearby teams we recruit against, and ISU doesn't fit that bill.

Ok now do most hated team in each conference:
Big 10: No one really, but I hate ON Minnesota all the time. Their story as a fallen power fascinates me and I love to compare certain teams (Nebraska, OU, Arky) to them.
ACC: Clemson. Like tsip-lite to me.
Big 12: OU actually
Pac 12: Oregon
SEC: frick LSU

Michigan. Mom's a Wolverine grad, and I grew up rooting for the Maize and Blue just as hard as the Maroon and White. Go Blue!

ACC:
Florida State. Always liked their school spirit/color scheme. Also, one of the most stirring pre game traditions in CFB with Chief Osceola.

I would have said Nebraska if they were still a member. But they aren't. frick this conference.

Honestly, given the environment around realignment and the Big 12, most of the schools fanbases have serious hate for us. Baylor, ISU, KSU, even Kansas to a degree, were all on the precipice of irrelevance. And it was because of our actions. "Why can't you just sit at the back of the bus like us?" is a natural thought.
If and when the sips take off, the hate will be enormous. Deep down everyone blames them but Stockholm syndrome is keeping that hate at bay. The second they bolt, all that pent up anger is going to explode.
It's classic psychology. And while irrational and misdirected, totally understandable. So I can't bring myself to be bothered by it (esp since I think that hate is an exceptionally good thing for us)

quote:B1G - Ohio State. Spending a week in NO in 98/99 with those dooshbags was enough. Seriously more obnoxious fans than the sips and they fricking played sloopy like 4 billion times. It's not 1962 any more. The song sucks people
Ok now do most hated team in each conference:
PAC - Oregon probably. Their fans are atrocious. They've got that nouveau riche thing going and while I see a bit of it in our fanbase of late, they have zero, zilch, zip history.
ACC - Miami. The funny thing is I have two friends that went there and it's really a great school. But I've pretty much hated them forever. And even my friends acted like dooshes when we played them. I think their fanbase just blows
SEC: ULSU. It's not really close.
Big 12: Obviously tu. But beyond them, I've always really hated Baylor and OU. I really enjoyed my visit to OU in 93 despite the loss....til after the game when I ran into a few of their players. As I was walking back out to the car, they were running their mouths at the girls we brought bc they were wearing Aggie gear. The girls actually felt threatened. Totally classless asshats.
Non-P5 - Notre Dame. Tradition, Catholic, Irish, all the reasons I should like them, but frick those bitches. I even knew a guy from high school play hoops there for Digger. I rooted for their hoops program then but over time the hate really grew. Probably all the Cotton Bowls

I thought about that, but I dunno. They would have been absolutely frickED if the big 12 broke apart. I mean imagine if like Kansas State had tried to block us from going to the SEC instead of Baylor, imagine the venom spewed against them by our fanbase. To me blocking us from the SEC is equal to being the catalyst to busting a school like Iowa States spot in a BCS conference as far as the impact on each fanbase.
The only other Big 12 team that I root for on most weeks is Oklahoma State. Though their recent success has increased their cockiness which is kind of souring me on them

Most hated
ACC: UNC. An excellent public university that stretches the academic limits for athletes considerably. Something about them really rubs me the wrong way. Though I've heard Chapel Hill is a nice town
Big 12: frick Texas
B1G: Ohio State. The arrogance is unreal. Their line backing corps constantly made of overrated white guys drives me crazy. I encountered an idiotic group of their fans last fall while in Pittsburgh for work that only confirmed my hate. This is probably my irrational hatred team in college football rivaled by the next team
PAC- I've had the misfortune of meeting several Oregon fans. This is easily the least knowledgeable fanbase of a consistent top 15 team in the country. They seriously know absolutely nothing, it is impossible to hold a conversation with these idiots about anything outside of their own team
