Why is he just announcing it? I thought it has been known for a while now

I am really happy about this move. Not only is JJ Green's film at CB impressive, and Pruitt wants him there; but it opens up the RB position a bit.

We need the athletes there.

Plenty of top knotch running backs on the team, but little talent at corner.

He's got the ball skills if he can learn the position at the D1 level. Hope he can.

I'm pretty sure he is going to be at safety this spring, not sure if it will be SS or FS though.

Actually glad to here this. As already stated we need more talent at skill positions on defense. Green is actually too small for a RB but about the right size for a DB. Hope it works out for him.

Any rumors on Langley? Stay at CB, or move to WR?

That's quite the opposite of what I see. He'll be going up against guys 3-4 inches taller than him. His body lean is impressive.

Green can do everything at tailback that is asked of him except pass protection. But he's a more versatile back than Douglas when it comes to carrying the football.

I usually don't like moving guys from position to position... but Green is a stud. He might be solid at whatever position we put him in.

I was surprised at how well Green did at TB. I thought he would be another scatback bust. But the dude could find holes and was surprisingly tough for a small back. His yards per carry was significantly better than both Douglas and Marshall.

But he was considered a great CB prospect out of high school, so we'll see.

Typical for a CB to be defending taller receivers. DB's have to be more agile to keep up with receivers who obviously know where their going to cut etc. thus DB's tend to be a bit smaller. Green has 4.4 speed so he should be able to hang with even the fastest receivers. Frankly that's been a big problem with our pass defense giving receivers 10 yard cushions apparently because we haven't had the talent/speed at those positions not to have receivers blow right by us.

I liked Green a RB also but we are obviously a lot deeper at RB than in the defensively backfield so the move makes sense to me.

The cushion had more to do with safety play than the abilities of our CBs.

Playing off often means that the safety isn't over top providing primary support. The safety might be bracketing another receiving target, providing run support, rolling coverage because of a blitz, or blitzing himself. All good reasons to back a cb off the line of scrimmage.

I like it. This sounds like CJP's work. We need some speed back there and guys that are not afraid to hit or get hit.

Also it seems it will ease possible tensions from lack of playing time among the RBs.

Who do we initially see him beating out?

Damian Swann
Shaq Wiggins
Sheldon Dawson
Brendan Langley
Shattle Fenteng
Malkolm Parrish
Reggie Wilkerson
