Not for a few years now.

The NCAA changed the rules about recruiting foreign athletes a few years ago, which is the primary reason that our great coach, David Marsh, decided to leave college coaching.

The fevered conspiracy theorists of the Auburn Family say it was all because of Jay Jacobs, but it never was that. If that was the case, why isn't Marsh, one of the best college swimming coaches in college swimming history, coaching at another top-rated swimming college? He's not because he LEFT college coaching because he no longer want to coach at the college level because of the rules they passed basically pointed directly at him and the foreign swimmers he managed to sign.

So now Auburn has a good (not great) coach who has to recruit under the restrictions Marsh chose not to recruit under.

So, yeah, AU swimming has taken a step back. Still very good, but no longer great.

Like I said, he didn't go to another college. Because of the new NCAA restrictions that he felt were pointed DIRECTLY at him, he left college coaching.

Since 2007 he has been the CEO & Director of Coaching for SwimMAC Carolina, Mecklenburg Aquatic Club.

lol do you actually believe this? almost nothing true in your statement outside of Marsh no longer being there. FYI I swam in college and one of my best friends swam at auburn (I drove 18 hours to watch y'all win 04 men's title.) Marsh is in Charlotte working sorta with the USOC. your story is cute though

edit: 4th place f yeah

OK, yeah, Marsh hated Auburn and JJ so much when he left he convinced his mentor, Richard Quick, to RETURN to Auburn and take over his job.

So, yeah, I'm sure your conspiracy theory comports to Occam's Razor perfectly.

Marsh left to go and coach club at Mecklenburg, NC. The MAC team. His pay and flexibility there are astronomical for a club coach and it allows him to focus in moving up the chain of command faster in USA Swimming.

it's a crazy conspiracy someone would leave for a better paying job and full control of a national developmental program than... yeah they passed a rule directly aimed at Marsh for recruiting foreign swimmers, being a sport nobody cares about and tons of other sports use foreigners. I'm not sure you grasp Occam's razor so well.

dick quick was clearly the best available and was doing nothing since leaving Stanford a couple years prior. again more crazy conspiracy talk from me.
