VOLS LB coach Tommy Thigpen named Rivals recruiter of the year

tommy's strength is obviously recruiting... he's not the best on field coach, but he wasn't put in a lot of winning situations with our safety in 09-11, our LBs in 12, or UT's LBs in 13... that's some pretty weak overall talent to work with.
with that said, he didn't exactly elevate anyone's game.... but he's on staff to recruit first and foremost... which he is dang good at.

IDGAF about how much a person can recruit. The D at AU he was coaching was terrible. Tackling was viewed as optional. Glad he's gone.

However, I will advise you to not expect his positional players to build on their already God-given abilities. He gets the players there for the college, but has a tendency of being a terrible coach.

Seriously, though, our DB play was shite under him. Auburn's DB play has been shite for a while so I don't know how much I can attribute to him. Glad you guys are getting recruits, though, I like it when UT is good.
