great show, just started a few weeks back. the creator went to grad school at Arkansas, Nic Pizzolatto. Only 36 but a great writer. he's from Louisiana and went to LSU but cool that he has a U of A connection.

Slow start but I'm excited about the next episode with that gas mask guy.

So he went to LSU and got technically educated, then came to the hill and got his shite together and learned valuable life skills?

I've seen the first 2 episodes. It's a little slow but I suspect it will gain momentum.

This show is very, very good. Does anyone know what Nic Pizzolatto did when he was at UA for grad school? Was he in the creative writing program? That's what I assume since he's a writer.

I read an interview with him about the show and he said he nearly set it in the Ozarks, but went with Louisiana since that's where he grew up and he had that kind of connection to the place.

I think the writing and acting are superb.

I don't mind the meticulously-executed slow pace. I think that it builds the tension in the show

Damn, missed this thread.

This show has far exceeded what I was expecting. Haven't seen this weeks ep, been too busy crammming house of cards.

He says each season will be a brand new story with a fresh cast, but I get the feeling that he's blown his wad with this material. You never know though.

incredible show.. I hope MM wins whatever awards are available for his performance.

I know there is lots of dialogue and little action in the first few episodes, but it really sucked me in from the beginning. I've watched every episode twice.

I never took Matthew McConaughey seriously as an actor until recently and the dude's killing it.

This show is freakin' awesome! LOVE IT!!!!!! Doesn't hurt that some of the chicks are kinda' hot too!!!....just sayin!
What I like is that this many weeks in, I still haven't been able to peg the final outcome.
I think that Maybe Chole is under deep cover...we shall see.

He's always been a great actor when he wanted to be. He just decided he'd rather spend most his time making formulaic romcoms and collecting an easy paycheck and playing the bongos naked.

That was my thought too. But he would have to be in way deep cover to just hang around as a deceptive for LA as long as he did.

never a bad thing for matt (well excluding the starved looking mm).

speaking of, i know you guys probably aren't interested but he was awesome in dallas buyers club as well. actually, jared leto was at least as good as him if not better- very good movie.

Yeah, Mud and Dallas Buyers Club were what swung me toward MM fandom. He was good in Wolf of Wall Street too. And True Detective is just amazing.

I wish he would've been in Wolf more, he stole that scene from Leo, which rarely happens. Both would be worthy Oscar winners, rooting for Leo just because it's criminal he hasn't won a best actor yet
