Yea UAB players only count toward a team's 85. They are eligible to play immediately too.

That'd be awful to have the program shut down then tell them they have to sit a year and count toward a teams yearly number. Almost surprised the NCAA didn't botch that one too.

No it's not... Hang around here long enough and you will see. People think just because a kid is 6' 2". 220 he can play. These players were at UAB for a reason and they are suppose to be the answer for our team? Pfff...

I really have no idea how good he is, but UGA wouldn't be bringing him in for one year if they didn't think he would help. Our ILB talent situation is a disaster right now.

He had committed... I think today might be the 1st day EE JUCO's can sign their LOI...

That's probably right. I'm sure that is what I saw. I was thinking he had already committed but was confused when i saw this.

SIAP, but we're in Donte Jackson's final 3 with USC and LSU. I would love to grab this kid out of Louisiana, but I think it's going to be hard for him to choose anyone other than LSU. He's deciding on Jan. 21st.

I think most people believe he’ll end up at LSU. Pruitt and UGA jumped on him early, when he wasn’t highly rated, but I don’t think it will be enough. LSU has their big in-state official on Jan 23rd or 24th, and he is set to attend with other big in state prospects. I think he’s been to Baton Rouge 3 or 4 times in the last month, and yes proximity helps. We shall see, but this one doesn’t look promising IMO

I really dunno why anyone would be bitching about essentially a free player. Even if he doesn't play who gives a shite? That's depth.

The whole "OMG HE IS FROM UAB HE MUST SUCK" bullshite has been absolutely ripped a part by some of you and for that I give you thanks. What a stupid comment. As if talent never makes it to a small school.

Exactly...

Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley, Walter Payton to Jackson State, Joe Flacco to Delaware, Marques Colston to Hofstra, and plenty of others that I don't feel like looking up. Some guys with a lot talent go to smaller schools for all kinds of different reasons.

This. How many years in a row have we played with under 85 scholarship players.......

I'd rather the spot go to a kid that had an offer to another school than a walk on.

Roddy White was a UAB kid. I'd take him as a walk-on, right now, if we got the right-out-of-school version of him.

Just a heads up, but according to Scout and 247, it appears that Van is sticking with UGA after Ole Miss gave him a furious run. The only question remains is if he will still EE or not. He may wait it out to come in during summer to make sure of any staff changes. He is perfectly qualified to EE, but wants to play for Mike Bobo.

Yes I know RW went to UAB. I was talking about giving the spot to the kid from UAB as opposed to some walk on.

Well that's good news. Now we just need to wait for Bobo to sign a healthy extension.

Did you know?

Mike Bobo currently makes less as UGA's OC than Rodney Garner does as AU's DL coach.

I really hope he EE's. I don't trust OM & I'm not sure we could hold onto him til NSD...

Garner spends the difference on recruits

Thank God there are people who see the big picture. It's not like we are asking him to show up and assume the role of Rennie Curran 2.0, the kid is going to be a solid addition to the depth of the LB core.

Best case scenario the kid continues to develop and sees some meaningful pt as a reserve LB/ special teamer; worst case scenario we wind up with a guy on the scout team who was talented enough to earn a scholarship from a D1 program.

Most importantly, the dude doesn't even count towards our 85 which is the most important part because of our history regarding off season defections.
