This. Was Charlie Hegedus forced to sit because of transferring from NC State this year? I assumed he'd be our next Great Wide(out) Hope, but I have no problem reloading the machine.

SIAP, but we're in Donte Jackson's final 3 with USC and LSU. I would love to grab this kid out of Louisiana, but I think it's going to be hard for him to choose anyone other than LSU. He's deciding on Jan. 21st.

No, he could have played, having gotten a NCAA waiver, but I believe he was hurt preseason and that put him behind playbook wise, so they decided to RS him.

It's basically like getting free players.

No it's not... Hang around here long enough and you will see. People think just because a kid is 6' 2". 220 he can play. These players were at UAB for a reason and they are suppose to be the answer for our team? Pfff...

Any depth that doesn't count toward this years limits can't possibly hurt. No one has claimed any UAB players are going to come in and start. Like Floyd said above, it's pretty much free players.

Who the frick is saying any of these kids are going to be defensive cornerstones. They're quality depth with college experience that don't count against numbers against this class. And who knows, maybe the one guy we bring in will turn out to be a solid player. No reason to be a smug jackass about it.

And yea, Roddy White was at UAB for a reason too.

Flacco went to Delaware.

Anyways, I think you could find a couple kids that might shine on special teams. At the very least, you're countering the attrition dismissals/departures.

I remember when UAB came to Athens and it took a 4th quarter field goal from Billy Bennett to win it.

And that's back when we had Green, Pollack, etc.

If the coaches think we can snag a UAB kid who can play - snag him, imo.

They also are bowl eligible played MSU fairly close this year so it's not like they have zero talent. With Kimbrough probably playing less special teams next year we are going to need some more playmakers and I will take guys with experience all day.

Projecting a kid who's actually played college ball vs a AA highschool kid sounds OK to me.

He must have gotten cleared by the NCAA to only count against this years 85, because uga could only offer him if that was the case.
