A lot of talk in here that one-and-done's are ruining college basketball, some saying because they can't connect with their team. Curious how many schools besides UK have even had one. I can't think of any but I'm no SEC expert.

The real question is how many alters are in your stable?

I think Florida has had a couple. I know Bradley Beal was one.

Having one and cones requires being able to recruit them. A lot of SEC schools can't do this.

Hint: It's the same # as the amount of Final Fours Mizzou has been to.

At the rate we are kicking players off the team I'd be willing to bet that auburn leads the nation in one-and-dones.

Tyrus Thomas was a RS Freshman. Don't know if that count's. He has to be one of the only RS Freshman to declare....ever

ETA: Didn't see the last 5 years requirement

I think it is. Outside of the true basketball blue bloods, schools can never achieve sustainable success with one and done.

Personally I think they should allow high-schoolers to declare for the draft, but if they don't go into the draft they should be required to stay 3 years in college at the minimum.

That way it's not as much as a farce to be considered a "student athlete", and some of these guys at least have chances to get degrees.

No one is making anyone recruit these guys. I don't understand this talk of it hurting college basketball. How is it exactly hurting anything?

I think fan familiarity with and attachment to players is a big part of sports. It's hard for some fans to get attached to five new players / new stars each year.

Also, when the best players leave way before they approach their prime, you just aren't seeing the best basketball possible. A lot of these one and dones start hitting their stride the last couple of months and then they are gone from college basketball.

I think players should be able to do what they want, but I do think there are good arguments that it is hurts college basketball.

Only one team in the country does this and Kentucky fans are just fine with it.

I don't. We get to see guys play college basketball we would never have seen play in college in the past.

The MSU/UK & Duke/KU matchup at the beginning of the season was one of the biggest nights in recent college basketball history that wasn't in March. The casual fan tuned in because of these one and done guys.

Is Bradley Beal really the only one? I know a lot of people felt like Chris Walker would be 1 coming into the year.

So its just you, one person one poster.

Like the number of combined conference wins last year for Arkansas and kansas in football? One.

I got it. Carry on. My bad.
