If that happens, I promise to quit thinking of Hevesy as Jake in the dodge dart commercials...

Per Paul, Florida offered Rankin today.
It's got to be awkward to recruit a kid to come play for you when you know damn well you won't be there when the kid arrives.

I'm sure they let assistants do the dirty work...and sell a bunch of bs...
"Well, my position group has been good and it's a great chance I stay with the new staff..."
"...rumor has it you are thinking about playing for Coach Mullen and Hevesy -- they are probably coming home to Gainesville..."
It would still be difficult and awkward, if not impossible...
Seems the real take-away from Rankin's recruitment is that he's elite. Probably the best or 2nd best OT in JUCO just based on offer list...

Its become obvious that Rankin has been our JUCO OL priority all along so I hope we get him. Rankin is the reason that Danley wasn't feeling enough "love" from us.

You're right...
I heard that back during the summer that Danley was well behind Rankin on the priority list, and that Danley projected more at OG for us. Staff has really, really liked Rankin for awhile. Hope we can seal the deal.

Both SPS and ED posters have discussed it. Why would I make it up

Im not able to keep up with recruiting as much as I would like, so what are our chances with Payne and Leo Lewis, realistically?
It looks like Payne has been visiting a lot lately but with recruits you never know it feels like.

Decent shot with Lewis...pretty much no shot with Payne. Who knows though...the longer we keep the #1 ranking, the better.

So is Lewis just trolling Freeze? Genuinely undecided?
Surprised we are that far out with Payne, I thought we were making ground with as many visits as we've gotten from him.

He actually hasn't been on a visit during this season yet. He and Kieth Mixon play on the same high school team and they have planned two visits together.
The first visit, neither of them made it, I want to say they had an away game that friday night and it was the 11 aTm game the next morning.
The second visit, their friday night game got suspended due to weather and they played it at the same time as our game the day after.
Payne has always had great things to say about us. After Big Dawg Camp, he put us in his top three and said it was the best camp he had ever been to. Mixon stays in his ear every single day about joining him at State, which he says in several of his interviews.
If they make it to the game saturday, I'd say we have a lot better shot to land him than people think. This won't be his official either, they are both coming unofficially, so they will visit again come January. He may end up at Alabama, but he is going to have a hard time telling our staff no, which he has already stated.
Look for this to be a lot like the Humphries situation last year, except he doesn't have a father that was a legend at Alabama, and he has a teammate currently committed. May turn out differently.

I haven't been following recruiting as closely as I usually do (graduated and got a job and stuff this year). But after watching the LSU game we obviously need a shite ton more O-lineman. How's recruiting going on that front?

Looks like Javon and his mom are going to either OM or State but aren't decided yet. I like that his mom is making the trip, because from what I've read she is in our corner.
If they come to Starkville over the OM/AU game, which were supposedly his leaders just a few weeks ago, that's a pretty big statement.

I think this is like Humprhey last year. He's giving us a legit look, but will stay at home in the end.
