I looked back a few pages and didn't see the 2016 recruiting thread - why isn't it stickied? - so I'm just going to post this here.

John Broussard - LINK - says he plans on committing on Dec 18th. 5 schools in contention - Auburn, LSU, FSU, Kentucky, uga. Hasn't visited any of those other than us this fall. Wants to take visits soon. Came for Ark and LSU. Ark visit was "nice", but the LSU game was "rocking." Us and Kentucky are recruiting him the hardest. Lots of family in Louisiana, but he said it's not definite he's going there just because of that. Has a pretty good idea which way he's leaning. Has the best relationship with our staff.

Sounds good for us.

There are 2 ways to find it.

1. Click on my profile then click on "Find threads started by ellitor".the 2016 recruiting thread is then about 2/3s down the page on my threads started list.

2.Click on "search" in the main area of the AU SECR. Click "more options". In the Exact keyword or phrase section type either "2016 recruiting" or simply "2016" (don't type the quotations) and choose "subject only" to the right of where you typed in 2016. Then click on "Search". The 2016 thread then pops up.

And great summary kage on Broussard. Very much appreciated.

Seems like having it pinned right under this one is the simplest thing.

How are things looking for Ivey? I haven't been following very closely and is John Burt flipping to Auburn for real or nah?

He's telling reporters it's a tie but most feel he is a Gator lean. He has also said a staff change at Florida will not affect his recruitment FWIW.

Not saying he will flip but it's a very real possibility. He UOVed Texas last Saturday and after the visit said he's committed to Texas and they are even with AU...17-18 year old logic. Go figure.

Are we targeting any big body TEs? Seems like in our last few recruiting classes we have only signed slender guys who can run more so than block.

We're only signing Jalen Harris in this class. Per 247, he's 6'5, 244 lbs. I would not call that slende for size to begin a college career. In 2014 we signed Chris Late (6'5, 240). We did not sign a TE in 2013, and In 2012 we signed Ricky Parks (6'5, 235). Parks was up to 257 when we had to let him loose.

For blocking purposes the H-Back is more valuable than the TE as evidenced this year by not having Prosch. At that position you need a guy who can block in space, which is not an easy skill. For example Brandon Folse has size at 6'4 258 but he does not block in space well. The only H-Back we'll sign in this class is Chandler Cox. He's 6'1, 225 and starts school at AU in January. If he is up to 240 by next season and can block in space then he can be a major asset to the run game in 2015.

IDK if Cox will get to 240. Check his frame. He is really about 220 now. If he can add 10lbs I think he will be fine. While size helps, and is important, a mentality like he has be the difference.

FWIW per Allie D on the Tuesday AUR Rundown podcast John Burt's mom is now on board with JB picking AU. If that's true it could be very big for AU's chances of Flipping Burt.

I definitely agree. Tony Richardson has a good argument for best FB of all time and is only 6'1 235-240.

With us asking periodically for blocks in space and pulling, I don't think having a Jay Prosch clone is the "only" fit.

He doesn't need to risk losing any speed or maneuverability. He could probably get it done as is, but I imagine he puts on a few just because of S&C/Training Table. He can do so many things Jay couldn't anyway.

On another note, UF's highest ranked recruit flipped to OSU. Just a matter of Ivey coming for his OV IMO.

And we already have Landon Rice for 2016 who is 6'5" 245 and looks like Gronk jr as a HS junior

Periodically?...That's the core of Gus's power running game. I ain't worried about a guy being a Prosh clone but to run what Gus wants we need a guy who can block LBs, DEs, or safeties in space there regardless of whether the kid is 230 or 260.

Chris Laye was recruited for his blocking.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we completely scrapped the H-back from the gameplan until we have a good one in place and we replace that position with a 6th OL that is listed as a TE like Braden Smith.

Between the tackles the HBack is pretty darn similar to a FB. On anything off tackle/RO/Sweep we ask a lot of both OL and HBack to block in open field in space

Unless Roc is as good as we are hoping, I don't know if we have a run game without a HBack. I don't see them respecting the pass enough to truly spread them out and without an HBack I don't see how we could pull without completely opening ourselves up to huge losses
