Sounds like Manny Diaz will interview for DB coach

He would be a great hire, in my opinion. Did very well at every stop until he hit Texas, and still very well respected as a DB coach. Great name recognition on the recruiting trail and a solid reputation as a coach.

im 50/50 on this as well but turns out people who fail at a coordinator job always rebound at a position spot

I'd love this. Wasn't sure if he'd be willing to take that type of pay cut (650K/year at Texas I believe), but if he isn't getting any DC interest from anyone he might as well start over at a position job somewhere big and build his rep up again. So hypothetically, if we get him and CTG underperforms again will Diaz be our future DC in waiting?

Fwiw didn't know he started out at FSU 98-99, hopefully his previous relationship with CMR gives him the edge.

247 (Gentry Estes) is reporting that there's a lot of chatter at the coach's meeting is about Diaz interviewing. It's by far a done deal, and UK's DB coach seems like another likely candidate, but I'm encourage that we seem to be going after a big name hire instead of promoting a GA or going after a guy from Valdosta State.
