Thought the Arky fans would appreciate the spin on this one from WDRB Eric Crawford's article on UofL's re-hire of Bobby Petrino.

Meet red flag No. 2. The classroom. Two faculty members told me today that had the Hilltoppers been invited to a bowl game the team would've been weakened by the number of players not academically eligible to play, depending on when grades were posted. When confronted mid-semester with the poor attendance of some players, Petrino, two sources said, told compliance officials he hadn't been required to monitor players' class attendance at Arkansas and didn't realize he was supposed to be doing it at WKU.
Who knows. I asked WKU for a response on player eligibility today. I haven't received one. At the very least, it would seem there are questions in this area.

What a piece of shite. Anyone that would let their child go play for a man who doesn't give a shite about their education or health is insane.

I remember classmates getting checked on during the Nutt era.

Last year Nutt was here that wasn't the case. My buddy was a tutor and said none of the players showed up for tutor sessions and there were never consequences.
Freeze is hardcore about that shite. He himself and his assistants check class attendance every week. Same buddy that told me about Nutt said it's a complete 180 degree turnaround from what it was in 2011.

Yeah I didn't take that as a jab at Arkansas. We have lots of people that make sure the players go to class.

Highly likely that you have a separate position for that at a bigger school like Arkansas and no position at a smaller budget school like WKU.
Yet people are going to turn this into a shitshow of a thread.

I didn't notice that the 8-4 Hilltoppers didn't get a bowl invite.

thats an outright lie, petrino's assistants were always checking in classes to make sure athletes were there.

Why would two separate sources make that up?

This.
I remember taking classes that football players were in and at least once a week some random guy with a clipboard would pop in and start marking guys off that were there.

He didn't have anyone assigned to check on players either. No one was checking on WKU players. You really believe he didn't know he was supposed to at least assign someone to do that? It wasn't like he hasn't coached at a smaller school like WKU before.

What does this have to do with Arkansas?

WKU has so many players disqualified academically, they would have had difficulty fielding a team for a bowl game?
Please tell me these players were math majors and not basket-weaving majors.
