i know certain people on here will hate anything that goes against what they think, but if JJ is a better option for next year, i say start him

I love nick, but there were just a couple crucial throws that could have been made that would have made the difference in the game. people will say he doesn't have the legs that marshall has, but he can run plenty well to run the offense. again, flame away

Nick also made several crucial 3rd down runs that JJ doesn't.

The best QB should play. I trust Gus to play the best.

I trust Gus on this, but I will say there is no doubt JJ is a much better passer.

I'll be shocked if there's much of a competition. Marshall's going to be preseason first-team All-SEC going into next year. But his passing deficiencies are well documented. Again, there's a lot of reasons why we didn't win tonight, but if he hits Louis in stride on the first drive and Coates along the goal line late, we win that game. You can't miss wide open receivers at this level. You just can't.

Hopefully a spring practice and a full offseason will help him.

He also had some clutch throws when we had to have them. The late 3rd down throw to Coates. The one he dropped in to Louis.

JJ is going to have to be a beast to beat Marshall out.

That 3rd down where nick scrambled and hit sammie (I think it was sammie) was amazing. I don't see how you bench nick after this season. He almost brought us a title in a rebuilding year. QBs won't be perfect, hell Winston sure wasn't and he won the Heisman and the title. Nick deserves to start.

This is why I hated Gus burning his redshirt against WCU...We could have won that game with Wallace. Marshall will start again next year, and JJ will have wasted 2 years of eligibility by the time he starts.

I hope the QB race is as tight as it's ever been. While I expect NM to win that battle, the competition will help both QBs.

Makes plenty of sense to me. He's clearly trying to play his QB's as JRs and SR's before moving to the next one.

I think NM will most definitely be the starter next year. An offseason, spring and fall will do him very well.

With Nick Marshall at QB, the offense will always be limited. His success was more due to Malzahn's genius and dominant OL play than anything he did. Not that he didn't make some great plays. He is a good runner, but not quite as good as we have made him out to be.

His lack of passing ability is what ultimately cost Auburn the game last night. Missed two wide open touchdowns, and a number of other throws. His accuracy just hasn't improved over the season.

This year's offense with a capable passer would have literally been unstoppable. I feel like Marshall will probably be the starter next year, as it's hard for a coach to bench a senior QB who just took his team to the national championship. However, I genuinely believe that the offense has a higher ceiling with Jeremy Johnson at QB.

Regardless of which QB ends up starting next year, Auburn still has a very realistic shot at going undefeated, which is certainly better than 2012 and 2011.

Agree 100%. I'm hoping JJ can push for playing time next year.

Nick Marshall will be the starter. No doubt in my mind.
