Restaurant wise where is good to eat? Do I need reservations everywhere? Good things to do while there?

First time going to Vegas. Would like tips.

I'm staying at excalibur because it's cheap. Not trying to blow out the hotel but plan on checking out a lot of them.

What are you looking to do? I'll try and help tomorrow if I can. Not going to be online much more tonight.

As for reservations, no you do not need them at many places in Vegas. As for restaurants, I'm not the best for that. I tend do simple stuff for lunch and dinner which means eating at stuff near where I stay which is usually planet Hollywood. They have about 30 restaurants inside the casino and in the miracle mile shops and area on eaither side of paris and I think I have tried about half ofthem. Good food everywhere.

Also, first time I definitely suggest visting and just checking out a bunch of different casinos and what is inside of them. They are all different really. Personally I like the really big clubs like Tao, tryst. Surrender, and hakensan at the mgm. I also like to gamble some, bar and casino hop as well. Love the vegas pool parties at wet republic and the palms but that is a summer thing and like just walking the strip some as it is always entertaining but not in January.

Maybe someone else will chime in with restaurant suggestions. I just dunno except the stuff around PH n Paris where I stay.

He's right. Tons of joints in the casinos. I will say if things are too crazy crowded, check out Battista's 1 block off the strip behind Harrahs. Old school in a strip mall location. Not the best Italian in the world, but feels comfortable and cozy after fighting the people elsewhere. All inclusive type meal. 7 stars easy.

My favorite restaurant is in the Paris casino, it's an all you can eat buffet. I can't remember the name of it but the buffet is full of exotic foods, like duck, calamari, sushi, various fish, steaks, lobster anyway you want, and other various seafood dishes. They also have an amazing breakfast buffet with crepes. The lunch and dinner buffet was $40+ per person but if go about 10:30 am you can pay the breakfast price which is $25. I'm cheap so I will do that and wait on the lunch foods.

Rio also has a taste of the world buffet that is very good, but the Rio casino is located off the strip.

There are several casinos that have a 24 hour buffet pass that are tied to the Harrah's chain. Also, many of the casinos have very ritzy restaurants like the Wynn, Bellagio and the Venetion. If you choose those make sure you are dressed nice, otherwise they won't let you in.

Lastly, and most importantly... NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING beats In-N-Out Burger! It is a must! It's by far the best fast food burger there is.

So these are the better night clubs?

Somebody said something about an AU gathering somewhere on Saturday night.

Yes In N Out is a West coast thing.Check out their wiki page they have a regular menu and a "secret" menu that is not a very good secret.I think everybody orders animal style which is on the secret menu.

A few places that I like
Hash House A Go Go - The Quad - get fried chicken and waffles - sounds ridiculous and it is in a good way
Mon Ami Gabi - Paris
Carnevino - Palazzo
In N Out
Earl of Sandwich - Planet Hollywood
Burger Bar - Mandalay Bay
Sushi Roku - CP Forum Shops
Wicked Spoon - Cosmopolitan
The Peppermill
Lotus of Siam - Thai food - E Sahara Ave - take a cab
Le Village buffet - Paris

I had a few dinners at very upscale restaurants like SW at the Wynn and Jean Georges at the Aria, but for the money, you can't beat Stacks at the Mirage. Steaks are as good, if not better and the price difference is HUGE!

The Excalibur really doesn't have "nice" restaurants inside of it, but it has what is more like a food court at a mall, so you CAN eat there if you want.

If you're looking for something more sit-down, they do have at least one nicer restaurant, but you can find better places up and down the strip.

(The Excalibur is where I stayed for the 2011 BCSCG and for the same reason as you, I wanted to save money at least in that area.)
