I dated a girl for two months in college, and she never knew my real name. I had a completely made up backstory, not just a fake name. She was from the city and not a student, which made things easier. She never met any of my friends, and we only hung out with her friends. We only went back to her place, and never mine. Went so far as to have a fake id made, only carried cash no cards, and had a separate phone. There were a few close calls, but I never got caught. It ended amicably, and I never revealed the truth. It was quite a bit of fun.

The closest I can get to seeing the logic in this is "She didn't find out so nobody was hurt and now she can't find him again."

Yeah it sounds bad I guess, but it was never malicious. It started because I gave a fake name when I met her for the first time. I decided that I liked her and wanted to see her again. So I got her number and went home that night and wondered if I should just come clean, or if I could pull it off. So I committed to it. For about two months during the summer I became someone else. We went to phillies games and movies and had a nice summer together. Once fall came back around it had run its course and we ended it.
I had always wondered what it might be like to disappear, and for that one summer I kind of did.
