I also remember Marshall missing most of 2 games due to injury.

What team is that? because its not Auburn

kind of a slap in the face to have the top JUCO WR in the nation want to come to a run offense over LSU.

Not saying this as a typical "we don't want him anyway" response… seriously. BUT rumors are we backed off bc it was affecting our recruitment of Speedy Noil. who knows. I don't really believe the rumors but it would make sense being that its a 3 year 5* player vs a 1 year 5* player. I'm at 50/50 right now.

Nice pickup. I don't see it as a slap in the face even though I know that response was directed at the other guy. I see it as a one and done receiver choosing to go with a proven QB and top offense over a young QB with an offense that hasn't proven it can sustain success over consecutive years. Once again congrats. I think he is going to put up big numbers next year.

Ummm, so you are using cumulative stats to base your argument on?

Pretty smart on your part. You know, since Auburn threw the ball less than 20 times a game (119th in the country). Total yards and total TDs would be the correct and only stat-line to consider.

Me? Personally, I'd look at how effective they were at throwing the ball. Yards per attempt. Yards per completion. You know, those stats that would really show WHAT kind of passing game they had.

quote:

I think there are a few Auburn fans here that are confused between vertical threat and vertical passing game. Stats do not back up that claim for vertical passing game . Link all 12 TD's in gifs. 12 is still unimpressive. JJ had 17 TD's and 2000+ as a first year starting QB. I would never consider that a vertical passing game.
Oh you mean when JJ threw the ball over 80 more times than Marshall? Did you know that JJ averaged a full yard less in yards per attempt than Marshall?

Bo Wallace threw for over 3000 yards and 17 TDs. He averaged less yards per attempt and yards per completion than Marshall.

Tyler Wilson threw for over 3600 yards in 2011 and 24 TDs. He averaged the same yards per attempt as Nick Marshall and had a worse TD-attempt ratio.

BUT 3000+ YARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERTICAL PASSING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nick missed the WCU and FAU (injured in 1st quarter, only threw one pass) games with injury... he missed out on some nice stat padding games.

Even better.

Did you know Mett and Marshall both threw 10 TDs in SEC games this year? Although, Mett did throw more INTs.

Too bad Marshall didn't get to pad his stats like Mett did against UAB, Kent State, & Furman because of him sitting out with injuries.

You never know with a guy like Williams. He could show up on campus and be the next Cordarell Patterson and absolutely dominate. Or he could be a complete disaster of a head case. And that isn't just made up smoke, either. He has some real, documented issues. (If you want to get some insight into what some are talking about on here, just read some of his tweets. It's more confusing than funny.) I'm not saying that LSU backed away because he is a potential headcase, but I'm personally kind of glad he isn't coming. AU is a more settled situation with returning QB and WR corps. We don't need any drama for Jennings to deal with in his first year starting.

Who knows. Maybe Williams can pull of being both a badass and a headcase. Da'rick Rogers ring any bells? He managed it for a little while, at least.
