Missouri is 2nd in the SEC in rush yards allowed per game (behind Bama) and 14th nationally at 114 ypg.... below is the SEC rushing offense ranking (MU's 8 conference opponents are in bold):

1. Auburn
2. Missouri
3. Alabama
4. Arkansas
5. South Carolina
6. LSU
7. Tennessee
8. Mississippi
9. Texas A&M
10. Miss. State
11. Georgia
12. Kentucky
13. Florida
14. Vanderbilt

Missouri faced 7 of the 8 worst rushing teams in the SEC and no team inside the top 4. However, they did shut down USCe's rushing attack. Also, how bad is the SEC East and rushing?... absolutely pitiful.

So Auburn is first?

Do you realize that Mizzou has great running backs, a very powerful mobile QB, on top of beast wide receivers.

what do your running backs and mobile QB have to do with your rush defense?

Keep hope alive.

This is the point in the week where stats are turned into statements of faith and used to buttress one's presuppositions or dreams. I have been there.

I feel about this game a lot like I did the A&M game, we could lose by 14, could win by 14. No way to tell until Saturday.

Well, the top 5 consists of Us, You, and 3 teams we didn't play. So....our rush defense isn't good?

This logic blows my mind.

Davis from USC was shut down for 90% of the game, he got more yards from screens then anything. He's supposedly one of the best rushers in this conference, but ya you guys are going to torture us,

Now if we had a bad rush defense and faced those same teams, I could see your point, but Mizzou has a good front 7 and you will need to bring your A game.

there is no opinion presented (other than the east sucks at rush offense), just the stats... draw conclusions how you see fit

Thanks for posting the stats. It's a bit interesting. However, I do not believe the stats you posted sufficiently prove any conclusion other than Mizzou has a strong rush defense and performed well against the teams on its schedule.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe they are 7 of the bottom 8 in part because Mizzou shut them down to some extent. Could be that they are just that bad running the ball or it could be that Mizzou's D stymied them thus putting them in the bottom 8. We'll find out Saturday.

auburn also faced three really good rush offenses... Bama, Arkansas, and LSU... granted, all three had success (especially LSU), but those three are pro-style offenses.

USC, Tennessee and Ole Miss collectively average 194 rushing yards a game at 4.84 yards a carry. Against Mizzou those three averaged 98 rushing yards at 3.4 yards a pop.

You're right. Mizzou's rush D is smoke and mirrors. Auburn's rush D is legit.

that's true in some cases... but a couple teams were very close to their yearly averages against mizzou.

Also, to MU's credit, when you get ahead of teams it forces more passes... mizzou had 4th quarter leads in most games... really only trailed A&M.
