Neal has flamed Auburn and their beat writers in almost every podcast he has done for the last 2 months... Called them out numerous times for saying the AU coaches and players are a team of destiny... He still holds some ill will and grudges from his days in Mobile... If they win the SECCG in Atlanta next weekend he may have to be put on suicide watch.

I like Neal by the way

Why? He's not only terrible at what he does but also terrible for Ole Miss. He hates Ole Miss and has said as much. It was much better when Dave Childers ran the site and had Grant Gannon on staff. Neil alienated the last 3 coaching staffs. He's an assbag.

Are you fricking serious?

Neal likes Ole Miss... he's an alum. He's just not a sunshine pumper. His entire career is based around bringing a neutral and journalistic approach, unlike the norm for Ole Miss beat writers.

I just don't get this viewpoint- makes no sense to me.

because too many people say, in the same breath, that true, unbiased journalism is dead and that beat writers aren't biased enough towards the school they're following.

Dude has zero insider info. Why because he is not a homer. To be good at his job he would need to put OM first. He will blow a recuits cover in a min to get the pub from being the first to report something. Dude is clueless.

I wouldnt say zero... He certainly doesnt have the sources that Yancy, Chase and Ben have but at the same time he is still a great writer imho.

1) He was the first to report the Bjork hiring, I believe first to report Freeze hiring. To say he has zero inside sources is ridiculous. He has been spot on regarding recruiting. He keeps things to himself, but that's because he isn't going to report rumors like Yancy does. He just doesn't follow them to the Library to watch their dance competitions.

2) The University of Mississippi does not issue him a paycheck, so I don't get the whole "he needs to be our spokesperson" agenda. He reports good things when they happen. He reports bad things when they happen. It's his job to report regardless of the news.

3) Those writers sign a code of conduct regarding their job, and one of the things that is included in it is not being a donor or fan of the school you cover.
