And if you think he gets fired who would be on your short list to replace him

Real question. Is it him, or us?

If we hire Bruce Pearl I will consider not firing Jay Jacobs for now. That would be solid hires in all of the big 3 sports.

With Pearl's show-clause running out, he'll be a hot commodity. We'll have to drop some major coin to get him...but we're paying Barbee around $400,000 for every SEC win so yeah, frick him. I'm sure JJ gave him a Chizik-esque buyout. Barbee signed a contract thru 2017 for $1.5m a year

60% and no to Bruce Pearl. He would never get the same level of talent to come to Auburn that he did at UT. The type of coach that Auburn needs is more in the Rick Majerus mold. A good evaluator and developer of talent that runs a system that fits with the level of talent he can recruit.

Barbee has gotten highly rated player to Auburn. Pearl took Milwaukee to the Sweet16. I think he would do just fine here

The Nino is exactly right. Bruce Pearl with our new arena and facilities could recruit better than anybody we could hope for and he is a proven coach.

When I checked a couple of days ago we were ranked 105 in BBall recruiting. Just thought everyone should know.

Auburn has a basketball team?

I have had to completely swear off AU/B'Ball Recruiting... , and that's being nice about it!

90-95%. Bruce Pearl would be the only one on my list. The last proven mid-major coach hasn't worked out, so a guy with proven success in the SEC would be nice.

For those that haven't seen, this was his quotes on where he'd like to end up for his next job:

quote:

"It's going to need to be somebody that has the vision that Tennessee had," Pearl said. "Tennessee had a vision to try to get its men's basketball program to the level of its football program and where Pat Summitt had the women's basketball program. That was Tennessee's vision. They said, 'We're winning in everything else. We want to do it in men's basketball, too.' So that would be the job I'd want -- a job where somebody has that vision. It would almost need to be a school that's won a national championship in football or baseball. Somebody who's done it and wants to try to do it again in men's basketball. And I'm not saying I can win a national championship. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying it would need to be somebody who wants to try to do those things. Let's upgrade the facilities and schedule [national opponents] and engage the fans and be relevant. Just be relevant. That's what we did at Tennessee. I wanted Tennessee to matter to Kentucky fans. I wanted Tennessee to be a game Kentucky fans circled. We did that. And that's the kind of thing I would like to try to do again."
