New Flat Seam Baseball in 2015

I read that the NCAA will be moving to a ball with flatter seams for the baseball championship in 2015. I don't think it'll be exactly like the MiLB ball, but it'll be close.

Hopefully the SEC will use it in the regular season as soon as they're allowed. This should def. help with the long ball issues in Omaha.

Here's to curveballs not breaking as much and more Home Run balls.

It's the right call. I don't like Jack Leggett, but he was right to lead the charge for this change. Hopefully it'll lead to some offensive balance again. Hell, Oregon St would've won over Miss St in walkoff fashion in the CWS with this new ball probably.

Thank God. Maybe it can help salvage the shite show that has become college ball. West coast baseball is terrible to watch and the new bats basically tried to force that on everybody.

If they want more long balls in Omaha, they shouldn't have made the field so big. Then they have a HomeRun Derby there, and the best hitters in the NCAA are getting only a fistful over the fence.

lol no.
You obviously didn't watch the whole game.

The new stadium has the same dimensions as the old stadium.

But it was faced into the direction the wind is predominately out of that time of the year.

He didn't mention wind.

New ball for the entire game and you get a totally different game.

The new ball will be adopted for the regular season in 2015, not just the CWS and postseason. The final aspect that would make the CBB ball exactly like the MLB ball is the core, and the committee will begin reviewing the possibility of changing the core next year....

I didn't compare their dimensions. I just said they shouldn't make the field so big if they are wanting more homeruns.
USC's center field is 400 ft.
LSU's is 405 ft.
Miss St's is 390 ft

They probably were too far along in the design and construction of the new stadium when the bat changes came about....

Kind of really poor planning not to make this change when they went to the dead bats. Did they really think it would be a good idea to give wood power bats with baseballs that dont even fly as far as MLB baseballs?

Tired of this west coast small ball bullshite. Good to see the manlier and more exciting form of baseball make a return. A style of game that fits SEC teams and proven success for LSU

As a former pitcher I hate this. I loved being able to work the seams.
As now a fan, I love this. Flatten out those curves and straighten up those 2 seams.
This may lead to pitchers doctoring balls more than they already do, however.
