don't think it'll be exactly like the MiLB ball, but it'll be c

I heard an interview the other day with DVH where he said the coaches wanted to go to a major league ball. The NCAA was agreeable to flat seams, but were dead set against raising the COR of the college ball. He said he expected a 20-25 ft increase in distance on a 300ft fly ball.

If they want more long balls in Omaha, they shouldn't have made the field so big. Then they have a HomeRun Derby there, and the best hitters in the NCAA are getting only a fistful over the fence.

It's a big park and the wind predominantly flows inward from the outfield. Plus, when it was designed the new bats were not in play; which, obviously, made the larger dimensions more applicable to the hitting power in the game.

Hopefully, this new ball will help generate a few more home run threats. It was frustrating watching a pitcher be rewarded with an easy fly out after throwing a, "mistake pitch" belt high fastball. Basically, all the UCLA pitchers threw were fastballs belt high and watched routine flyouts instead of being punished with a home run or an extra bases hit.

Crap. Gotta go buy a new bucket of baseballs for my 6 year old kid to practice for the Select team.
