That's kinda cool. Do players do this frequently?

ColoradoAg03, I have no idea; I just happened to have stumbled across this Q&A session.

Do you ever read Texags?
Clay answered this question with the following:

if I wanna read opinions of washed up high school jv superstars I'll just go to a high school game

It would be one thing if Jason Atkinson (#49) wasn't calling for the benching of Baggs and Honeycutt...

He could use the same answer for just about any message board, at least Texags has quite a few former A&M ball players that post there and is part owned by one who played in the League. I'm sure he will get lots of NFL'ers respond to his Q&A session though. Can't imagine why he would want to do this right now. I don't hate the kid but he is very limited on the football field.

I could laugh at this if he wasn't getting completely destroyed every play and almost solely responsible for our loss to Bama.

Plus TexAgs is more full of people who never followed football closely til they attended A&M.

You could say that about any message board, of course only a few posters never played a down of college ball and most didn't even play HS ball. That isn't the point. The point is that even the guys who DID play college ball and even beyond haven't exactly been singing his praises. The fact he brought up Texags is irrelevant, every site has at least a few legit football folks as posters and they have been critical of his play.

I appreciate the sacrifices he makes to be a player at A&M and hope for the best for him but I don't care for the comment. As you said, he has been terrible and was responsible for multiple TD's against Bama and even against Sam. I realize his pride is likely hurt but it won't be soothed by having the internet asking him random questions.

To me it comes across as blaming fans for criticizing him. He would be better off doing some form tackling drills, that missed tackle on Bell especially was inexcusable. All he had to do was either form tackle him or push him out of bounds but instead he left his feet and went for a kill shot and instead got turf. A Safety can NEVER allow that to happen, his job is to be the last line of defense. I certainly never played college ball but it doesn't take a football genius to know that.

It makes me think that he thinks he's hot shite for playing at A&M. He's better than the majority of HS players and that's where his motivation ends.

It was a joke. Lighten up. He was specifically asked whether he reads Texags

This just isn't true no matter how much you want to bash the guy. He hasn't played well but let's quit the bullshite hyperbole to bash a fellow ag.

I read it as him having fun. I honestly didn't think he came across at all as being affected by the internet bashing. Honestly, I have no idea what you are bitching about here.

The fact that you are blaming him for that play is pretty much exactly what he was talking about btw. That play did not happen because Clay Honeycutt screwed up. He failed in cleaning it up. No two ways about that. But tackling an elite WR with a full head of steam in the open field is not as easy as you make it out to be.

Some of you guys really have a bug up your arse about Honeycutt. It started before the season when you'd never seen him play. He hasn't been great. But he hasn't been nearly as bad, I'm talking same hemisphere, as some of you guys make it out to be.

I don't know Clay and I've heard he's pretty cocky (most college players are honestly). But this is a guy that Sumlin himself has said he thought he would never play. And the reason he's playing now according to both Sumlin and Snyder is because he's worked harder than anyone else. I think questioning his motivation is a touch unfair.

It doesn't bother me that some of you have a hard on to criticize our players. But this was a light hearted ask.fm thread and y'all pretty much turned it into an echo chamber bash thread in seconds (not that this couldn't be predicted).

Considering he's taking the time to bash A&M fans online, I think it's justified.

The play is at 2:00 on here:

LINK

I agree that play wasn't completely his fault but he is the Safety, the primary defender on the play (as the CB was being blocked by the WR) and the last man. He had an angle and the sideline to work with. All he had to do is force Bell to the sideline and either make the tackle or push him out. Instead he stops moving his feet (which is his real mistake) and seems to think Bell is going to go inside and then has to leap to try to tackle him as Bell runs untouched to the EZ. All he had to do was continue to move forward to cut off Bell's angle and then either tackle him or force him out of bounds. It isn't an easy play because it is against a good athlete but that's SEC football.

It was just a bad play, I don't know how it can be defended.

I also said I don't hate the kid at all and appreciate what he has to do in terms of sacrifices to play for A&M. That doesn't mean his judgement in taking questions from the internet is sound, nor does it mean that he should just get a pass when he takes that opportunity to bash fans even if it is meant to be a joke.

It's kind of like how it is a bad idea for JFF to respond to tweets from fans, nothing good is going to come out of it. It's just immature, not a big deal or anything but just not smart.

I also mentioned that other sites have former players as well and this isn't really a Texags thing though this board is far too obsessed with any chance to bash Texags for whatever reason.
