As we are all aware we lost last saturday to Jersey shore U. While we're all not happy about this I've seen a lot of questioning of the coaches judgement calls.

I remember when Hootie did stupid shite we always had tons of examples.

So what do you do differently last saturday that gets us the win?

I don't know that I do anything differently.

Use Hocker to punt conventionally, although it is still possible he shanks one away from the coverage, but those usually go out of bounds instead of setting up a return for TD.

Bring more heat in the fourth quarter on defense....blitz his arse...rush 5-6 not 4.

That's about it. I may have gone back to the Hatcher runs that worked, but fake to him and play action off of it and run it from the other side.

You could have Collins as the lone back on that and fake to Hatcher and then let Collins come back across....

I made this thread to post exact differences you had with the coaching staff. If you have some please cite them out for us. I'm just curious. I can look back with hindsight and have a few but for at the time minute to minute decisions I didn't see anything I disagreed with.

Keep Hocker in there for all of the punts

I like the rugby punt. It was working wonderfully for us til the last little bit. It even setup a field goal at one point with a fake out of it. I think we have more punting options from that formation than from the standard one.

Irwin-Hill does present the option due to his rugby back ground, he isn't the soft pussy most kickers are thought to be so when a team leaves the option, he can take off and steal a first down (or pass like we saw).

What I don't like is put are under the rugby style kicks because when they shank we saw what happens when the ball goes where the team doesn't expect it too.

I do like the line drive/squib (whatever you want to call it) kick at certain times as they are usually non-returnable and usually see them stealing yards as they bounce end over end on the ground.

If Hill is going to punt it normal american football style, have him do that after catching the ball instead of running beforehand.

Yeah that fake was a thing of beauty

I just don't think Hocker punts it right in the middle of the field away from all of the defenders

I told my friends this while we were watching the game by I think Hocker may have hurt himself on that kickoff that he shanked. His only other kickoff after that didn't reach the end zone and he never punted again despite us being backed up to our own end zone where we used him to punt in the first half.

very true but i've seen nothing from irwin hill that would have lead me to believe he'd shank the frick out of it. It was poor execution from the punt team both punter and the coverage team.

The coverage showed they expected the ball to be on their right hand side of the field.

Be ball curved in the air from that direction over to the left hand side of the field.

I don't know if calling it a shank is appropriate as it probably has something to do with the way they kick the ball that allows the possibility.

Yeah, I noticed, but didn't know if he was possibly kicking it short to try to pin them back behind the 25 on the field, you know practicing things in game, although Bert doesn't practice things in game.

When I write my textbook on how to shank things. This is what i'm going to write down as the definition.

How about a wheel route for Jwill, and while we're at it some seam/drag routes for the TE's.

The TE play has been extremely weird the past 3 games... they dominated in the first game and fell off the map the last 3

Although some of that is Derby's fault
