Is Sheldon Dawson still nursing an injury of some sort? I am not seeing him out there in games, and with Langley struggling in stretches as he was Saturday-hard to believe that Dawson wouldn't get at least a few snaps if he was not injured still. Anyone have any good info?

somebody made an excellent point about the blitz packages Grantham was dialing up leaving Langley on an island. The blitzes worked more than they didn't but we payed for them a couple of times when langley got burned,

Dawson was in on special teams.

I think langley may be the more physical option.
We may have sacrificed some cover skills for physicality.

Some have said that dawson was in the doghouse.
But it doesn't make sense to play special teams in a big game and not at cb

Very good points. He may very well be in some sort of doghouse. After my OP, I went and looked at his Twitter. A lot of "No man or coach can hold me back" and "Need prayers". Interesting to say the least.

There was some chatter on another board that him and Shaq both are in the doghouse.

I really think that it was a case where we wanted to be more physical.

Wiggins and Dawson are cover guys. we'd rather force the action downfield than give up plays on the screen game or perimeter runs.

You can't let the opponent have the easy stuff. We wanted Shaw standing in the pocket as long as possible.

Langley is just the more naturally gifted player. Seems to me that the coaches are willing to go through some growing pains with him so they can reap the rewards later of him having experience. The kid definitely shows some flashes of what he can be.

In regards to Dawson, if he is in the doghouse, he probably deserves it. Richt usually doesn't put people there lightly.

Langley was terrible against the pass and the run so from where I was sitting it made little sense to not give someone else some snaps.

DB is the most demanding position on the field both mentally and physically other than the QB position. It takes a unique combination of size, speed, quickness, toughness and insight to become a good defensive back. Langley looks like he's lacking closing speed. He got beat twice for TD's vs Nick Jones who is 5'7" 174lbs and not very fast. Both times when he got behind him, Langley was unable to close to make a play on the ball. Yea, he should have been playing tighter coverage in the first place but we need DB's with closing speed.

Maybe it is a case of thinking too much. He is still a true freshman learning the system. People tend to play better when they can just play without thinking we are expecting alot from a guy in his second start of his true freshmen year. Hell we saw B.Smith get burned plenty of times
