My memory tells me that 2008 was a catastrophe of a season in every way. While this is mostly true, I was reading through some Auburn football history a second ago and realized something.

We lost in the last minute to LSU at home.

We lost by one point to Vanderbilt.

We were leading Arkansas going into the fourth quarter and a break away run is what gave them the win after pounding their running back 35 times, which we held up fairly well considering.

In the logic of an Alabama fan, we were 9 points away from being 7-0 heading to Morgantown.

Crazy to think where Auburn football would be if Tuberville had gotten those few points and rescued Auburn from the Tony Franklin debacle.

The same could be said for last year. We could have realistically beaten Clemson and LSU early on. The negative momentum would not have started and we might have squeaked out an invite to a bowl game. Chizik would still be here. A couple of plays can change a season and a career.

We were much better in 08 than last year. We could have won 9 games in 08. I have said this before. Leading in Morgantown and gave it away.

This is the game that changed it all. One play goes differently on the first drive of the third quarter of that game and I seriously doubt Tubs goes and there would have been no Chizik and probably no Cam or NC either. One play changed a lot that night.

We were 3-0 in that game. Beat LSU and that 2008 season turns out a lot differently. Also, we were up 14-3 and crushing LSU at JH and about to score when Todd took a sack. I am confident a TD there and the game is over. There would have been no way LSU could have come back from down 21-3 at JH where they had not won in 10 years against our D at that time. Instead we take a sack, do not score, LSU completes a long pass, gets a TD, we drive to about the LSU 10 yard line, throw an int, LSU scores again on a halfback pass and all of a sudden it was 17-14 LSU instead of 21-3 or 17-3 AU. Also, that was the first time Tubs lost at JH to a top 10 team in 7 games.

The LSU game and a single play changed a lot (the sack on Todd on the first drive of the 3rd).

Tuberville was his own worst enemy. He shite on our program when he decided to keep his friends on to get tenure over doing the right thing. For this reason alone I lost respect for him as a person. He can rot in Cincinnati for all I care.

Also would have prevented us from getting Cam Newton and winning a National title.

Tony Franklin was not the issue. The issue was the rest of the good ol boys coaching did not want him or his system so they put in minimal effort coaching the O. If the rest of th O staff did their jobs then the O would have been alot better.

It'd be crazy to say he wasn't at least apart of the issue. Do you remember him wanting our offensive linemen to slim down so they would be more capable to move sideline to sideline? Small linemen, in the SEC, is a recipe for disaster. And we all know they were talented based on the production from them in the previous season as true freshmen.

Cam takes MSU 14-0, sparks recruiting, recruits are starters by now. Media hops on. Mullen stays, builds dynasty, makes Saban's arse quit. Grindin fo days

MSU at best would have been 10-2 with Cam. They still would have lost to Bama and LSU and very possibly Arky

Was that sarcastic? Cam wouldn't of had as good an O-line at all, not as good running game, not as good recieving corps, and MSU wouldn't of had Nick Fairley on the defense.

Our offense should not have been a disaster like it was if Franklin had support but that doesn't mean we wouldn't have had a subpar season

If the staff was on the same page I doubt we would have.
