That would be great cause the construction cams suck. You would think we could afford some better cameras.

It is nice to have the construction cams, but even though they say they are, they are not live and even seem to loop to some degree. The Zone camera seems to be really off a lot of the time.

That being said, damn they are moving along at quite a good pace.

They really are. Last time I walked by Kyle field last night they had the whole first half of the first deck demolished

So I have a question. We aren't planning on demolishing the west side until next year but we are building the SEZ this offseason. Wouldn't they need to tear down the 1st deck on the west side next to Netum Stead in order to build the new section?

I don't think so

This is the West Side view. It doesn't look like it is attached. It's a shame if the concourse at least doesn't connect but I think there are going to be 4 distinct areas with no connection.

The view from the Zone probably shows it best that the alumni side extends beyond the end zone even in the future and we are moving the field 18 feet that direction even. So my guess is it's designed such that the "break" between the SEZ and the West stands is in the same place before and after razing the west side.

Good point, I forgot about that. I knew we kept you around here for a reason.

One thing I don't understand. Since we're moving the field south, but leaving 2&3 deck as they are, will they just be off center from the 50 yard line?

I've been curious about this as well. Kinda dumb, but it would bother me a little bit to see the field off-center.

Also, anyone have any idea why we're only rebuilding the first student deck?

yes, the student section will be off by about 6 yards.

Given the East Side extends beyond both endzones, the impact is really just that we'll end up with more end zone seating on the north side in the student section. The South End Zone will wrap around more than the Zone does and extend to meet the current East Side. You can see decently in this pic

Because they are different structures, by not renovating them we do not have to comply with new standards for seat size. We'd lose something like 20% of the seats because they are set up for about 18" seats when today's standard is 22" iirc. On top of that, it's student seating and there's no money in renovating it as no one really cares how nice it is (at least I didn't give a frick when I was a student)

Makes sense, but there are no seats in the student section, only bleachers. Given the fact that they stand 95% of the game, it doesn't really matter. But I'm all for saving money.

there are not chairbacks, but there are seats. The benches are numbered and they are done so using an 18" standard. Every ticket must have a seat number and if we renovated, we'd have to widen them thus reducing the seating there

I got this while walking from the MSC. Would this be the new ramps?
