So that whole UCLA doesn't generate enough runs argument

Am I mistaken in the fact that they are one win away from winning the CWS? Seems like they've scored enough runs to make it this far. I can't imagine any team in the SEC would be so upset about UCLA that they would hold a grudge.
Now if you were to say TD Ameritrade favors a team like UCLA more than another team, I would agree with you. It's a pitcher's park, and UCLA has favorable pitching.

You mean holding your opponents to 2 runs or less on a regular basis wins baseball games? Who would have guessed.

I think we can all agree UCLA isn't the best/ most complete team in Omaha. But they make the plays when they need to, they play smart and don't commit errors. This is why they will win the CWS

They've also gotten a ton of breaks...but thats what happens when you put pressure on your opponents.
However, this type of baseball isn't going to help this sport grow.

More on the bats. I hate these fricking bats.

Yep. This brand of baseball won't help the sport. UCLA fans don't even show up to support it. :).

your understanding of what it takes to be successful in college baseball is incredible.

UCLA has also fielded the ball as well I've seen from almost anyone in the CWS this year. Minimal errors and capitalize on others.
If MSU would stop trying to kill the ball and hit for the gaps they'd be in much better shape. They're not having any problem getting contact on the ball.

I think it's less that it favors pitching more than it favors small ball offense. If you depend on big hits, this park will swallow every one of them.

Let's just say they win in an unorthodox manner.
Just so happens that that unorthodox manner is favorable to win the CWS in this era of college baseball and in that particular park.
I honestly thought that Cohen wouldn't allow UCLA's mind games to get to them. I thought he would find a way to counter what they try to do. State couldn't have played into UCLA's hands more than they did. Overswinging. Swinging outside the zone. Committing errors. This was exactly how UCLA planned it.

CPM was quoted on a local talk show yesterday that "I couldn't entertain 11,000 fans with small play play." Not necessarily a knock on the Bruins but in small ball in general, my take.

IMO, it's more enjoyable than the slow pitch softball of a decade ago... but they've got to find a happy median. The regular season run totals seem fine, but TD Ameritrade needs to bring the fences in or something...

People that say this is "real baseball" crack me up. No, throwing belt high fastballs so they can be crushed but fall short due to shitty equipment is not real baseball.

They had a happy fricking medium in 2006-2010.

This is my biggest issue, in none of the professional leagues is it a good idea to throw a high in the zone fastball. That is because it is 8 times out of 10 (completely made up stat but you get the idea) hammered deep. Same with hanging a curveball, you should be punished for that.
I can't say it's the same at all parks in college baseball, but I can say that from watching the games I have, TD Ameritrade with it's eternally blowing straight in from center field wind, plus the loosely wound ball, plus bats neutered the way these are have made it so that a pitcher cannot be punished for a bad pitch in the manner that they should.
