the juiced aluminum bats of a few years back or change to straight wood like in the mlb? Considering that the majority of talent goes straight to the mlb would the hot bats help with attendance to promote the game?

no, the new bats should simply be as close to wood ones as possible.

I'm for going with wood. Wood was more pop than the shite we are using now, and it gets them ready for MLB.

A wood bat like the majors is the only answer.

I say go to wood. It better prepares them for the league. It might encourage MLB to work with college baseball a little more as well.

The bats of the 2009 season had enough pop in them to keep the homerun relevant... why they went to the shite we have now is mind boggling.

I wouldn't complain if they brought in wooden bats and the minor league balls.
However, I don't see them going to wooden bats.
I think changing to the minor league ball would give the batter a little more range.

This will never happen unless MLB pays the cost for it.

Yeah, I was under the impression wooden bats weren't used due to costs. Dunno for sure though.

Bring back the ol Easton Black Magic!
Seriously they need to either change the baseballs to a tighter wound ball with lower seams or go to wooden bats with a hotter baseball. I'm torn on this because while I think wooden bats would be great to help players get ready for the MLB, I also would hate to lose that "ping" sound that comes with an aluminum bat.

Change the baseballs to be more similar to MLB baseballs

I think I have also heard, you would not be able as good of wood. Like MLB has better wood than the minors.
I would like for them to talk about using the balls used in the minors too.

You are correct. I coach a summer league team that plays in wooden bat tournaments. A quality wooden bat is around $130 or more. We would usually break 1-3 a game. Small schools simply couldn't afford this.

Or, if it's strictly a big ball versus small ball issue...bring in the fences to an acceptable NCAA standard. No equipment changes needed then.

no, that ping sound is synonymous with college baseball.
I do like the crack of the bat but I equate that to the majors.

Yep. Switch to the minor league balls and it would be perfect.
Kyle Peterson said the same company makes both balls so it would be simple to do.

what is the reasoning as to why they don't use wood?
More pop in a lighter bat?
eta...sorry didn't read the whole thread, my fault.
