So do we pitch Mayers Friday and save Wahl for Saturday against NC State?
Also, anyone think we have a good chance at advancing? NC State probably got robbed of a national seed, we definitely drew a tough regional.

Definitely save Wahl for Saturday. If Mayers can't handle W&M he should be cut from the team.

I agree, Wahl is a great pitcher and with him on the mound we can compete with anyone. Him vs. Rodon will be a great pitching match-up on Saturday

Something I wouldn't mind seeing is maybe Ellis or Smith getting the Friday start, starting Wahl on Saturday, then you'll have Mayers on the mound for the final against hopefully a 2-1 NC State team

I agree, William & Mary isn't a bad team, but Smith should be able to handle them. Smith has been pitching great recently too. Only problem with that though is if it comes to it, can Smith pitch on 4 days rest?

247 is saying that they expect Wahl to pitch Friday. I really hope we pitch Mayers Friday instead

If we waste Wahl on W&M I will be beyond pissed.

I agree, Mayers is a great pitcher but Wahl by far gives is the best chance to beat NCST. Plus Mayers seems to be our best option to pitch on 4 days rest if needed.

I don't see the need in wasting the ace when we have other guys that I think are capable of handing W&M

Need to make sure of it though. I advocate mayers game one as well but i also do not want to be playing a 4 seed Saturday

W&M is 2-6 against rpi top 50 teams, with both wins coming in series losses... I think Wahl, Mayers, or Smith could lead us to victory over them. Then again, if our bats aren't going, it won't make a difference who we pitch.

Did we not rest Wahl the entire SEC tourney or am I wrong? If he didn't play, like I think, then we saved him for two wks to start against WM? If this is accurate I have no more excuses for Bianco..

Bianco did the same thing in Charlottesville a couple years back.. He threw Pomeranz in game 1 and beat St. John's but then we lost to UVA in game 2... Got dismantled by St. John's in game 3.

Wahl really wants to pitch Friday, but we have to pitch Mayers Friday and Wahl Saturday. If Mayers can't get us past W&M, then we don't deserve to play NCST. We need Wahl Saturday since it will be a pitchers duel, and that NCST pitcher held UNC to one hit in 10 innings...

Exactly. Regardless of what Wahl wants to do it's about the betterment of the team

Yep... the pitcher should be announced tomorrow though since all the coaches are meeting tonight to discuss everything.
