Indiana ranks 14th in the RPI—no small feat for a Big Ten team—and owns a 9-8 record against the top 50 and a 13-10 record against the top 100. The Hoosiers have more top 50 wins than Oregon (6-10) and UCLA (5-8), and considerably fewer series losses (one) than Mississippi State (six). Obviously, the Bulldogs played a stronger conference schedule and have far more wins against the top 50 (21-14). But MSU’s six series losses are a black mark against it, as is its 8-9 record in road games (compared with Indiana’s 15-9 mark on the road). Bearing in mind that the landscape could still change over the next three days, we’d rank the contenders for that last national seed in this order: Indiana, Mississippi State, UCLA, Oregon, Louisville.

Louisville and Florida State shitting the bed has definitely pushed us into discussion, but I still don't think we can move into that spot. If we do win SECt, it will get interesting though.

Cardinals are vying for a national seed, and they’ll need a strong run through the loser’s bracket to beat out teams like Indiana, UCLA, Oregon or maybe Mississippi State for the eighth national seed.

Saw this on Baseball America too, I think they are thinking if we win the SECt we are definitely in contention.

Honestly I don't think we deserve a national seed. But we definitely deserve a regional host spot.

I agree. We honestly have too many series losses, and while some are to legit teams, some are not.

Hosting is pretty much sewed up. Our record vs SOS and top 50 RPI wins are too good not to host. We are playing for the national seed now.

Ill take a regional host matched up against national seed Indiana or Louisville. I like our chances.

One projection I saw had us matched up with UNC. They are somewhat struggling at the moment, but I don't want to go there. I do think we could knock off the two that you named.

I feel the same way, man. I don't want to burn out like last year, but I think it helps that we won it last year and are taking a different approach into this tournament.

Yeah, it will also help playing a regional at home.

I'd love for us to draw Troy or South Alabama for the 2 seed at our regional dont want Va Tech or Miami or Ga Tech.

There is a big difference in last year's SEC tournament and this years. We played all of our games last year in the hot arse sun. Our guys were just beat by that. They were so worn out they couldn't recover before the regional. This year we are in a much better spot since we are playing mostly night games and having today to rest.

I'm glad to see some role players step up and contribute more. Armstrong has been clutch and Demarcus has been coming around. Once Hunter gets over this funk he is in we could make a deep run in the NCAA tournament/CWS.
