with you guys now on the cusp of deciding who is going to lead your program for the next 4-5 years is there any talk about upgraded facilities? Have been to UGA twice for series and I'm guessing you guys rate bottom half of SEC in baseball facilities. Any plans to invest in renovating current park or building new one? IMO would unlock Pandora's box if you guys had a Carolina Stadium, Baum, Alex Box or BlueBell in Athens with your recruiting grounds!

Fans in Georgia have the Braves they could care less about UGA baseball.

That makes absolutely no sense...not surprisingly coming from you.

GT has a serious baseball following and they share the city.

Fans in La have the Saints; we still love LSU football.

If UGA upgrades their facility and they start winning games again, the fan support will be there.

Doesn't always work that easy, see Tennessee.

Georgia has a rich baseball tradition; they were the first SEC team to win the CWS. I believe the support will be there.

We are definitely a sleeping giant right now.

What needs to be done:

-Stadium outfield seating
-new outfield wall, get rid of that tin can green piece of shite
-new facade around the press box concourse area

If we can get a coach who isn't a stubborn arse and will make an effort to get in with Guerry Baldwin at East Cobb then that's all we need to be a power in the sec again. Recruiting guys that make it to campus is also huge.

Tennessee hasn't started winning games yet. But don't let half of the factors in the sentence you quoted dissuade you from making a stupid response.

So zero talk of renovations or a new baseball stadium? Does the administration not see the success financially and on the field that SC, LSU, Ole Miss, MSU and Arkansas have had over the last 5 years with baseball? UGA financially is killing it right now aren't they, wild there isn't any talk.

That is extremely false.

Georgia Tech draws fewer fans than UGA does the vast majority of years. I know they are a smaller school, but they definitely don't have a serious following for a team that has been a consistent winner.

Some fans have wanted to blow up Foley and start fresh at a second location ( and turn the Foley location into an indoor practice facility). Me particularly.

There are 3 big ticket "needs" by the UGA Athletic Dept.
1) Foley (baseball)
2) Stegeman (basketball/gymnastics, etc)
3) In-door practice facility.

It appears that Foley will be given a renovation when it needs to be destroyed and a new facility built from scratch.
Just like Stegeman was just given a renovation when it needed to be destroyed and a new facility built from scratch.

Hurting things are attendance at events not named football. The AD has to make a leap of faith that fans will get excited and show up to support the teams.

Yea, I'll give Georgia Tech credit for having a consistently solid baseball team (even though they typically choke vs. UGA), but their attendance is terrible.

I do think the Braves play a role in the lack of UGA and Georgia Tech baseball passion.

Sure I'm a Braves fan, but if you gave me the choice of UGA getting a National Championship in baseball but the Braves move to Portland, I'd take it. I'm sure that is a minority opinion though.

meansonny, LSU pre Skip drew crowds of 300-400, on good days. Back then, it was all football, with just a dash of basketball. But Skip had an AD who understood that baseball could be revenue producing & gave him the support necessary. Because Broadhead knew Skip was the coach who could make it work, knowing Skip when both were down in Fla. It can be done, with the right athletic dept support.
