Razorbacks, give me some feedback on this.

Beeks, Staneck and Fant - what are their pitching personalities like on the mound? We know about the ERAs but tell me how these guys approach batters.

Will they directly challenge batters like Katz and Bergman or will they work the plate and bait em into a bad swing?

What pitches do they throw best?

Stanek works pretty fast. Never seen them start the pitch clock with him. Fant has improved a lot from last year although his last outing was bad. If he can get past 2 or 3 innings with little trouble he usually has a solid day.

ETA:
Idk as much about Beeks. But honestly there's not a pitcher on our staff this year that Hog fans aren't confident in. Hopefully they bring their stuff this weekend.

What pitches do they most rely on? Fastball? Change up? Curve?

Stanek's fastball has quite a bit of movement on it and is what usually K's up his victims. Don't know as much about Fant or Beeks. Lately our Friday starter has been Astin. Is that who you meant instead of Beeks? Suggs, our best closer, has some really nasty stuff but has a tendency for his pitches to be too low.

Fant is pure offspeed junk, guys fastball his about 85-88mph.

Nastiest changeup you'll see all year possibly.

Nothing but junk all over and around the plate.

Stanek will throw gas with good movement from 94-97mph with a nasty slider but inconsistent with it's location. If he's on he's almost untouchable.

Friday Night: Astin- reminds me of Greg Maddux. Not an overpowering pitcher but locates well and has nasty breaking balls. Can put the ball where you can't hit it but is in the zone.

Saturday Night: Stanek- projected #1 or #2 overall draft pick. When he is on, he is hard to touch. Fastball ranges anywhere from 94-97. Was throwing 96 last weekend in cool weather in Tuscaloosa. Has a slider that is nasty. If both pitches are working he is very hard to touch. Power pitcher.

Sunday: Randall Fant- Crafty Lefty. Runs the fastball up around 92, then will hit you with a change up in the 70's. Change up is his best pitch and his out pitch. Will throw it every pitch if he has to then uses fastball for out pitch, or vice versa.

I watched Bama go after Suggs last weekend. They ran his pitch count up around 38 for the 9th inning. Made him work awful hard and none were easy outs.

I was actually more impressed with the guy y'all threw in the 8th inning of that televised game. Who is he?

I was thinking Beeks was your Friday guy.

His inning was better than Sugg's IMO.

What's great about this staff, is the bullpen may be better than some of our starters. We have so many pitchers DVH can work matchups all night long.

Suggs needs to get his shite together though. When he has his stuff in line, he literally cannot be hit.

Opponents are only hitting .194 on these guys.

I think Stanek has a 0.70 era in conference play. That's crazy when we have already played Ole Miss, SCar, State, and Bama.

I'm surprised we slid into second place for team era.

I asked this a few days ago and everyone thought it was a troll....

What happened early in the season? Your pitchers have great numbers now, but obviously you lost some games. What happened?

Really?

Should be some good ball games.

Best hitting team in the country vs the best pitching staff.

Unfortunately for the good guys, good pitching is almost always better than hot bats.

Apparently, their fielding has been kinda rough.

And LSU is the best hitting team in the conference, but I don't know about the country.

Did you not keep up with Stanek last year? When he is on he is incredible and like Hawgeye said, basically untouchable. Bad thing about Stanek, he is a wild card. When he takes the mound you don't know which Stanek you'll get, one that will strike out everyone and go 7 great innings....Or the Stanek that will struggle to find the zone and walk batters and give up a lot of hits and get pulled in the 3rd inning.

We were still trying to figure out our rotation...stanek struggles in cold weather and got off to a slow start. Our lineup has been tweaked now too. We still arent good at fielding but Anderson at SS and Mahan at 3B adds more hitting than what we had. Ficociello missed a good chuck of the season too.

We still need to find a consistent 1B...you might see Ficociello move back to 1B eventually. At least thats what id like to see.

Rough is an understatement.

I would go with Turrible!

We got at least 3 or 4 losses due directly to terrible fielding.
