7 innings 1 run and 10 K's is rocking him?
Well that would be an ERA of about 1.3 so yeah that would be rocked by Stanek's standards.

And LSU is the best hitting team in the conference, but I don't know about the country.
We are without a doubt the best hitting team in the country. Literally noone can hold our jock right now. Arky's got a sick pitching staff led by Stanek, likely the nations 3rd best pitcher (behind Sean Manaea and Appel).

Hawgeye
Nola and Eades are sick. Our D is rock solid, we have considerably good depth in our pitching staff and a shut down closer in Cotton

You may be thinking of Baxendale. Y'all got to him pretty early with a couple of bombs and ended up working us pretty good that game.

No doubt that has everything to do with Saturday's game.

A classic matchup. Great hitting vs. great pitching.

It would be one thing if we had crap pitching to go along with this powerful hitting but we don't, our Friday and Saturday guy are going to be high draft picks when its all said and done. So I think that is more the question is can Arky batters scratch out enough runs against our pitching staff? I feel confident our hitters will find a way the way they have been playing so far this year. Now will it be tough playing at Baum? Of course, I see all three games being extremely tight.

You're thinking of DJ Baxendale who was or Ace last year. Yall did rough him up but Stanek only gave up 1 run over ~7 innings.

It should be a great series this weekend at Baum. Best of luck to the Tigers and may the Hogs win.

So 10th in the country actually means you're 1st in the country?

Yep. One thing that works in LSU's favor is that we haven't struck out a whole lot this season. Even Jacoby Jones, who was a windmill for two years. Bregman seems to make solid contact in every at bat, Rhymes and Laird are mostly singles hitters, and Katz is just on a tear right now.

Them being able to put the ball in play consistently is going to put pressure on the Arky fielders. Our 1-6 spots in the lineup are really solid, with Jones batting 7th starting to warm up, and Ty Ross improving as well. I just can't wait to see what happens.

LSU is in the Top 10 in batting average, HR, slugging, total runs, etc. The only other major program that consistently shows up in the top 10 that would face any regular competition worth speaking of is georgia tech. So if not #1 they're at least #2.

Also those stats are from Sunday and dont count the 27 runs LSU put up in the midweek.

Really happy seeing McCune do well. We got all of our bullpen arms some innings the past two nights and they all looked good. Forget what they did against the hitters. Against a team like SUBR, you can't relly guage their success in that department unless they're actually struggling and getting hit.

None of them really and truly did. But the location and the stuff was dead on for most. Especially Cotton. The guy's arm position and arm-speed on that change up he's got looks like he's coming in with a low 90's heater, and that change comes in at mid 70's. Just a nasty, nasty pitch.

This weekend, Arkansas's going to face the closest thing to its own pitching staff it'll bat against all year. LSU will probably also face its toughest test.

The key against Arkansas will be to try to put the ball in play on the ground. If you do that enough, they will give you extra outs and you will get extra shots. Even against good pitching, no elite team can afford to get another elite team extra outs and more shots at your staff.

I think our fielding, our speed on the basepaths, and our hitting will allow us to scratch runs and play station-to-station if we have to. We can lay the bunt down and sacrifice runners over very efficiently, and I think we put added pressure on the Hogs to field flawlessly.

My prediction: LSU takes 2/3...Hard-fought, but we leave as the heavy favorite in the SEC and in the Top 5.

So, as I read this, it will be a matchup of both teams' strengths, the hawg's pitching vs the Tiger's bats. The tie breaker then mite possibly be the two HC's. To paraphrase Bobby Knight's famous comments bout Daddy Dale after a close fought NCAA tourney game yrs ago: "I was nervous till I looked across the field & saw Coach DVH sitting in the other dugout."

the tiebreaker is lsu pitches and fields too. they do all 3 phases of the game extremely well. If the series were in the box Arkansas would likely get run out of the park like Kentucky did. But it's not. Therefore, it will likely be very competitive all 3 games. Only blowout i could see is Arkansas blowing LSU out on Sunday if Glenn continues his sec road woes.
