1 Ole Miss
2 Alabama
3 Arkansas

They have Tennessee as the last team in the NCAAt. Also, all the automatic bids are knocking LSU and even Texas A&M out of the projected field.

Welcome in 6 automatic qualifiers in Middle Tennessee, Stony Brook, Mercer, Niagara, Robert Morris, and Charleston Southern. These auto-bids forced out Illinois State, Dayton, LSU, Texas A&M, North Dakota State and USC.

Yea you have to realize that as a major conference player it is not good to be on the bubble of the NIT becuase if small schools that are favored to win their conference tourney lose it for some reason they are given the spots in the NIT.....I'm not sure why it's just the way it is.....I guess America likes to see semi-decent mid majors beat crappy major players

It rewards teams who win their regular season conference championships, the same way the NCAAt rewards teams who win their tournament championships.

I get that.....and the SEC is weak as shite this year....but in a normal SEC year I would think that going .500 in SEC play would mean more to me than going 14-4 the BFEland Conference.

ETA FWIW when everyone started talking about LSU and the NIT I said LSU would need to win 2 in the SEC tourney to get in.....I still stand by that.

Well sure you're probably a better team doing that in the SEC, but there are a lot of better teams playing in the NIT than some of the automatic qualifiers into the NCAAt too. It's just how the system works and it gives access to everybody. The NCAAt wouldn't be the same if you just took truly the best 68 teams and left out the cinderellas and the upsets, and a few years back the NIT took in any regular season champs that didn't make the NCAAt (not that I'm comparing the two).

That's accurate, just beating UGA probably won't do it.

I'd rather watch a good mid-major like MTSU than a couple crappy SEC teams like LSU and A&M... good mid-majors tend to play a more open style and score more points... they're also usually more disciplined.

just my opinion.

Yea I know....and I know the argument goes both ways.

I think when the tournament goes to 96 teams (and it will one day) we won't have to worry about this NIT BS.

You can't possibly fire a guy after he gets a #1 seed in the NIT and COY from NBCSports.com.

I'm pretty sure that back to back 11-point losses to end the season, getting swept by Georgia, and losing to Vanderbilt knocked us out of the NIT.

Oh, and don't forget Billy Kennedy's crowning achievement...a loss to SOUTHERN at home.

I've never really heard anybody argue that more mediocrity should be rewarded in the NIT, enough mediocrity is already rewarded as is. Nobody cares enough about the NIT to bitch about it being left out, and people like the fact that you reward teams for winning their regular season.
