I've never heard anyone argue about the NIT period.....I've made the argument for the NCAA tourney and it could carry over to the NIT if anyone gave a shite about it

Northeastern joins the list after losing last night. Valpo and South Dakota State are the conference champs playing tonight.

What is the point of the NIT? Why even have it? What can you claim if you win it? I know it gives schools tournament experience for next season, but seriously, what is the point?

It makes money, so they have it. TV makes money, schools make money hosting games, etc. Money is typically the answer to why anything in college sports exists.

More exposure, more revenue streams, more chances for players to improve stock, etc.
It's becoming a bigger punchline now, though. Nowadays making the NCAAT has become the holy grail for coaches and players, and the NIT has taken the hit for it.
Not sure it's going to be around forever or not.

Does "nowadays" mean like the last 25 years?

Andy Kennedy is the best coach OM has ever had...and you guys hate him. What kind of program do you expect to have in Oxford, MS with the facilities you have to offer?

Your basketball knowledge continues to impress Or do you think CM Newton and Wimp Sanderson, for starters, were football coaches?

Ever heard of Wimp Sanderson?
...and while Coleman isn't a palace, it sure as hell beats the Tad Pad.

Yea I don't think Coleman, or any other big six conference gym for that matter, has had to ever cut short a game because of a leaky roof.

The same reason there are 8 thousand bowl games every year.
