Bring a lot of bourbon. I go every year and usually forget what happened.

Why yes, it is. 35 years, about time to remedy it.

Simple, I had kids, starting when I was 15. A family of 6 on one paycheck leaves precious little money to do anything fun but I wanted to be there for my kids more than I wanted to go to college or ball games. frick, I haven't even had cable the last 3 seasons until halfway through this year. I listened to every damn game on the radio.

Now the wife and I are both working (me 72 hrs a week) plus the oldest boy has a job, so I can finally afford to take one day off work and drive to Athens. I figure G day is the day to go.

So seriously, what is there to do for the fans before/after the game?

You can go to the bookstore and hang around Tate plaza. That's usually where a lot of people will be before the game. I'd suggest just walking around downtown. Since you've never been just explore the town. It's awesome.

The big plus is the weather is awesome for tailgating. I am hot natured and have been to some USCe games, 97 and 2007 come to mind that were like visiting Satan it was so hot. Then the 2004 game day at Columbia (hotter than hell), ok I digress. The G-Day is nice spring weather that is perfect for tailgating!! I can't wait. GO DAWGS!!

Beer can chicken, pork tenderloin, quall and beer and bourbon/vodka, whatever mood hits. Then go out and help the downtown Athens economy. Get drunk and eat!! You'll love Athens!

Print you out a campus map, take a camera...park downtown, check out downtown for a while.

Walk Broad St. to the Arch, explore N.Campus, ring the chapel bell, see Herty field quad, just keep going downhill checking out the campus till you hit Baldwin St. Hang a right to Sanford Dr. then head down the hill to Sanford Stadium.

Get you a coupla pics from the bridge, the bookstore will be open to shop for Dawg gear. walk thru Tate Student Center if you want. See the game, head back downtown then eat, drink etc... You'll have a blast...
