I find all the tape I can on Vince Wilfork and show it to the nose guards all year long. Dude is the perfect player at that position

Nah, just study Stanford game films...they actually know how to run the 3-4 defense that can STOP the run.

Aside from the three teams they played that can actually run the ball (UCLA, Wisconsin, Arizona)

Yeah, they were great against Oregon, but Stanford gave up 500ish in their last two games. Stats like that get 50 threads started on this board when Georgia does it.

Dude, we gave up 200 rushing yards vs KENTUCKY! How bout 45 pts to UT with NINE NFL prospects on defense.

So Stanford did play Oregon? Thanks for the clarification

The d-line of a 3-4 is more dependent on personnel than the 4-3. WE all knew that. The nose guard HAS to be a big, fast motherfricker and that combo is not only hard to find, but almost impossible to have go every down, so really, you need 2 of them. The DE, I believe, is where UGA was weakest this year. G. Smith came on late, but Washington was a non-factor. AS in the 3-4, the D ENDS and middle linebackers are supposed to stop the run. Thats their main job and ours looked clueless at times. Ogletree was the only bright spot their, and even he go blocked a lot. IT starts up front guys, and we are gonna seriously need some guys to step up. That and a nasty NG.

Read my post again. 500ish in the last two games. Combine that with the 285ish that UCLA ran for on them.

ETA: 218 for Wisconsin + 284 for UCLA = 502.

And we gave up 608 rushing yards to GT and Ga. Southern combined. Good lord dude, we aren't even medicore at stopping the run.

Stanford finished in the top 10 in rushing defense and beat 2 of the top rushing offenses in the country (Oregon and Wisconson)

Agree with this. Stanford had one of the best defenses in the nation this past season.
