Basketball. Easily.

Even if the baseball team was good, I wouldn't care.

LSU, SC and Ole Miss - definitely baseball

Arky, A&M and MSST - tough call

Bama, AU, UF, UK, UT, Mizzou, Vandy, UGA - definitely basketball

That about sum it up?

Do most UGA fans realize their school competes in other sports besides football?

I've always wondered why UGA doesn't put more emphasis on their baseball. They've won a National Championship, almost won a second one not too long ago.

Their men's basketball sucks almost as bad as ours.

Dude it's the SEC minus UK, UF & Mizzou everybody cares about baseball more

Speak for yourself, Alabama and Tennessee have much bigger basketball followings than baseball followings.

Until Gillespie got here in 2004, baseball by a mile at A&M. From 2004-2010 it was basketball. Since our program has caught Kennedy's Parkinson's, it's back to baseball.

Listen, I never said SEC schools do not care about basketball, I simply asked if a particular program cared more about one than the other.

SC has had her great years in basketball as well ... after all, we used to be in the ACC.

But we do love our baseball.

Frank Martin is going to build a big winner here. He's already got the class coming in next year to make big time waves. But still, baseball is a passion for us here and I was simply wondering if it is not the same at LSU for example ... and are we the only two schools in the SEC that feel that way about it.

Florida loves their baseball, but there is little wonder why they love their basketball equally if not more.

I was actually hoping A&M might be willing to join us in the ranks of baseball over basketball?

With me I just get that it's not the best of this age group playing.

Sure every year there are top guys coming out of college that are top draft picks and make an impact, but usually the top kids out of high school are getting drafted and going right to the minor leagues.

On top of that I dont like the aluminum bats.
And it's pretty difficult to follow. It's not televised greatly and covered that much nationally.
And when the champion is crowned we dont see them on the cover of SI.

So Frank Martin left K State with a winning record against Mizzou from what I understand ...

I can see where that would cause you to roll on the floor with nervous spasms.

Or do you believe Mizzou holds some sort of magical dominance over the SEC East already? In your first season and for all time in the future? Could you be that ignorant of what you are getting into in the East?

Is it not going to be equally hilarious when Mizzou is finishing fourth or fifth in the East in basketball as well? Hell, that's just around the corner - I give it two seasons from now max.

Then what are you going to have to live vicariously through?

Fairly difficult to say for us...

I will say, there have been numerous years over the 2000s that we cared about BOTH more than football. The early 00s were rough for us in that sport.

I'd lean baseball -- because it's the one sport that we take a backseat to no one in in any regards(insert joke ab us underachieving for the past decade, etc). We've got prestige, a rich history, as much dedicated money as anybody, tons of former/current MLB guys, etc. Dudy Noble is still the largest college baseball stadium in the country and still one of the 20ish nicest. It only took LSU, OM, Arky, and SC 20+ years to build something better than DNF has been in it's current configuration.

You would be hard pressed to find someone(legitimate) that doesn't credit Ron Polk/MSU as the founders of modern college baseball. When we became the first program to prove nationally that it could be profitable in the early 80s, LSU hired Bertman, which carried it up another notch.

I'm not sure if polling fans at a college baseball tournament is the best way to get an objective opinion about college basketball....
