Now that it's been a while since the hire, I'm just curious.. Are you Arky fans really excited about him being hired or was that all an act?

ETA: Not trolling. Genuinely curious.

Even more excited now that he's hired most of his staff.

Loaded.

Why should we not be excited? There's a chance he may not work out here, but there's that chance with every coach. He'll do well.

Was cautiously optimistic at the time of his announcement, but now I am a firm believer that it was an excellent hire.I really like the staff he is putting together. I also love the energy and passion he brings to the program based on certain things he has said.

Immediately after the hire, I didn't know what to think. But the more I learned about him, the more I liked him. I believe he will turn out to be a great hire.

No I think he's vastly overrated, but who really knows how good he will be until the season starts.

Flagship fans make a habit out of being blindly optimistic though. I had countless people in Fayetteville telling me JLS was taking us to an SEC championship.

Sadly, 2012 couldn't even bring people down to earth.

Excitement is genuine. The staff he has put together will be an upgrade from Petrino's staff.

I think it was a great hire, and the staff he is putting together is better than any other I can remember in recent history.

What an insightful and well written post. It's amazing how much some of you Aggies continue to bring to this board.

Bravo sir, Bravo!!!!!!

Count me as excited. I would have been happy with a number of coaches but after looking at Bielema's record and talking to a few fans who have actually met him, I couldn't be happier with the hire. His recruiting will be exponentially better than Petrino’s and it’s already showing not only with the 2013 class but the 2014 class as well.

Not that I’m a big “star” rating guy in football but since so many are I’m going out on a limb here and predict that Arkansas’ 2014 class will be the highest rated class we’ve had since people started tracking that sort of thing. I certainly like the way things are shaping up in Fayetteville.

I think he was the best hire we could have made. On paper, he looks to be at the very least as good as Les Miles and Saban were WHEN THEY WERE ORIGINALLY HIRED BY LSU(put in bold so LSU fans don't misconstrue my post.)

He appears to be putting together a solid staff that ON PAPER should be better recruiters than we've had in decades. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE WILL BEAT LSU AND BAMA IN RECRUITING RANKINGS. But truth be told, the difference between a number 15 or so class(which we should be able to pull,) and a #25-35 class(which is usually about we've been getting) is pretty huge.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS WILL TRANSLATE INTO WINS. I am optimistic.

I remember Aggie fans lamenting the Sumlin hire, who now pretty much feel certain that a MNC is now assured under his leadership; I remember Auburn fans lecturing us about Cheezit when he won the cam-natty...look at them now; remember the first two years of Nutt at Ole Miss?; how about Urban Meyer's fall at Florida(after the nattys of course; I remember the Miles-to-LSU hire...didn't look too great at the time.

This is all a bit of a crap-shoot for all of us who did not hire Saban.

We'll see where we are in 2-3 years or so; we'll be able to judge BB then. Both Auburn and TAMU had quick success with new coaches, but both did it with outstanding Olines (that had been recruited by prior staffs) and unexpected individual stars on the D( Fairly for Aubs, Demontre More(sp?)for TAMU. I think Petrino's shitty Oline recruiting is going to bite us in the arse for a few years.

I'm a 'wait and see'. I do feel we did better than some folks though.

The national folks sure think he was a great hire though, and he seems to be putting together a very good staff.

So far, I like the hire. Even with Bobby, I was concerned about the lack of defense. With CBB, I think we will start getting back to the kind of defenses we had in the late 70's/early 80's.

With the addtion of the 2 coaches from TN, it looks like the offense will have a chance to continue to be very productive as well.

Obviously, only time and wins will tell the tale, but right now I'm happy and excited about the possibilities!

At first when I heard about the hire I was like wtf. But after doing some research and CBMFB hiring some elite assistants that can recruit, I love this hire.

People were saying his staff hires would make or break him and they were right

He's building an elite staff
