Arky will rue the day it didn't throw the entire state at Briles.

Funny thing, that's what people were saying about A&M before they hired Sumlin.

Yes and they were wrong. Same as they are here.

It was glorious observing the ignorance around here this time last year.

"Gimmick offense!"

"Conference USA!"

But now of course it's "Coach of The Year."

I might be wrong, but in my opinion without Johnny Heismann, I think you guys would have lost to Ole Miss, La Tech at the very least. That's 8-4 best case. And Sumlin had nothing to do with his recruitment to boot (nor the recruitment of that great Oline.) SO...JFF was the dude; not Sumlin.

You will forgive the rest of us SEC folks who have already witnessed the fall of Auburn post- Cam--AND the fall of Urban Meyer's Florida post-Tebow-- if we don't all anoint Kevin Sumlin's TAMU as the new SEC juggernaut. Let's see where you guys are in 4 years or so. Manziels don't grow on trees. Just like a Tebow or a Cam.

And you will forgive that we didn't hire Briles, who would have brought that No-D crap to Arkansas.

Read my prior post in this thread. You will see how I feel about the BB hire.

For me--- genuinely excited.

For me I was hoping for a defensive minded head coach.

All of Arkansas' previous coaches that I can recall have been offensive minded (Hatfield, Crowe, Ford, Nutt, and Petrino) and I was hoping to see us break that cycle. Bring in someone that would put emphasis on physical defensive play. Check!

A coach that would put an emphasis on physical smash mouth Offensive Line play. Check!

Also for the university, to open the wallet and bring in top notch assistants. So far check!

So far with this hire, I think we are making a step in the right direction and I'm very excited to see where it takes us.
