Do you think he would transition us to a 34?

Not sure we are equipped for that now.

That's his thing, so I would think so.

Holland will make a great Jack LB.

We obviously aren't equipped for 4-3 either

While true, I agree to an extent...

I think we'd have a core of solid linebackers. Carl Lawson and Corey Lemonier at JACK, Dee Ford at another outside linebacker position, Reuben Foster inside, and Cass McKinzy inside. And that still leaves Cam Toney, Kris Frost, etc. However, up front, we would be pretty soft...

There would be growing pains, but I think it'd help in the long run. If our defense is going to suck, it might as well suck during a transition.

Nevermind, I read this as 34...

Ignore my last post.

Whatever defense the new coach brings, he is going to have his hands full with this crew. Hope he enrolls them in tackling 101 class.

Let's be honest, they'd skip that too.

I hope he does bring the 3-4 if he is indeed the next coach. I actually like the 3-4 scheme better

We are not ready to run the 3-4, but I don't think it will take as long to get there as many people think. The biggest missing piece is at the nose (I guess the closest thing we have would be like Blackson???). If we could find a good JUCO guy there the rest would require cross-training guys for new positions.

I actually think Lemon and Ford would be pretty sick as a Jack/Hybrid

Yes and we are not equipped right now for it, need more and better linebackers and a 3-4 nose.
