In light of the newest drug scandal...

It seems to be becoming some what of a trend in college sports, football in particular. I'm not sure if it's the back grounds these kids come from or just the new norm, or if it's just the fact that they're all fricking tards for risking they're entire livelihood for a few minutes of high, but who knows. Regardless of they're asinine motives, is it time that each individual university start cracking down of drugs in their athletic programs? Is it possible to force ALL college athletes to submit to a weekly drug screening in order to prevent these kids from throwing everything away? Granted the most recent players caught were ex-players, all of whom I am positive were toking it up during their playing days, it's becoming a problem that's spreading across the entire landscape of college sports.

Punishment for use and sale of illegal drugs, should be, that individual shall be required to traverse Mexico wearing colors of the opposing Drug Cartel when they are in a certain Cartel's territory. If they make it all the way back to the border, then charges are dropped.

Athletic dorms are the best and most realistic option IMO. I don't see coaches disqualifying a 5* player if his background is only a drug possession charge. At the same time, he has done it before and will likely do it again. With athletic dorms, coaches can keep tabs on the players and make sure they stay out of trouble.
Alabama has a form of athletic dorms (Bryant Hall is 51% engineering, 49% athlete) and I think it helps a lot of our younger guys stay out of trouble. There is a dining hall there, their tutoring is there, and it is close to the practice field. I don't know, but I want to say they have a curfew as well. It isn't a guarantee (see: Brent Calloway), but I agree something has to be done.

i would say there are a lot more "distractions" available in b/r compared to t-town

I think it's safe to say that most people on the rant have smoked pot,so why the double standard.Its not like they were cooking meth

There are lots of reasons it shows up more in football.
One being it's the most publicized college sport.
Two, there are almost a 100 kids on each team. Much higher chance of people getting caught than in basketball.
When you can be the first president of what would become the most powerful nation in the world, set the world record for olympic gold medals, win a cy young, win the stanley cup, create the most loved art, music, and stories all while being a cannabis user... maybe there should be a new perspective on this topic.
You see, as long as we have ignorant people like yourself in this world these people lives will continued to be ruined over something that is less harmful to society than people using alcohol.
I would bet plenty of college athletes have been smoking pot for decades.. but now we drug test more, and any time someone is caught its on espn.com immediately. And fools like you eat it up.
