Glad to finally see Bobo incorporate the pistol into the offense

Been hoping for this for a couple years now. Gurley has had several big runs out of it.

Now that Marlon Brown is playing to his potential we have the talent to be in 4 wr sets. With Gurley and Marshall around we have Beast mode capabilities but I worry that Gurley may hit the HS wall and be fatigued in the latter games if we keep featuring him.

Is that the name for this new offensive set we've seen lately?

Yes. Nevada is the first team to run it(that I know of). Several schools over the last few years have started using it as well. Bama and LSU have used it a good bit last few years.

Mad props to the coaches for being innovative and designing the system around their players rather than trying to shove square pegs into round holes.
As a whole, I think CMR has really listened and evaluated his approach to the game and made some great changes. Maybe this is what he meant by his statement, "more time to study the game" that was attacked so viciously at the time he made it.

Good deal. We were talking about it the other day, I just hadn't heard the name yet.

Here's hoping the fricker is finally getting it together.

a lot has changed since Richt's meeting with McGarrity after the 6-7 season..now if we could stop losing bowl games...

I'm starting to think Damon Evans was a big part of the problem. He was good with the financial part of the job but not so good at scheduling, game start times, and being a real leader with proven winning philosophy like McGarity brought with him from UF.

UGA has had a history of hiring folks who were not ready for the positions...Goff, Richt, and Evans come to mind immediately..

with the whopping 11 carries a game he's getting?

The pistol involves a one-back set in which our qb can either pass or toss the ball to the back.
The toss is what differs this play and offense from its predecessors. LSU was especially effective with this play last yrar.

Hopefully he'll be OK if we keep him under 15 carries a game...

Breath of fresh air. Actually beginning to wonder if Richt has been reading the Rant. With Murray's limited height, the Pistol is just what the doctor ordered. It gives us a play-action option without Murray having to back peddle from under Center. I will still like to see Murray roll out more with the option to pitch run or pass; darn near impossible for a defense to defend every option.

Was thinking this myself. Richt hasn't been riding the hell out of Gurley like SOS did with Lattimore. I think Gurley will hold up fine with the amount of carries he gets per game. The best thing is ... he makes the most of those 11 carries per game!
