For real though, they'd still find a way to get ND considered.

Eh, I don't think so. ND is no where near as relevant as they used to be. I'd honestly be surprised if they get to keep their AQ status.

ND would get throttled by these last few SEC NC's.

If there's still a provision that if ND finishes in the top ___ of the BCS they automatically go to a BCS bowl, I'm sure the NCAA fatcats will figure out a way to write them into the equation.

The ongoing scandal in the Catholic Church is eroding the power Notre Dame once had.Catholic pride was the source of the University's huge following. That pride is not at an all time low.
Notre Dame will be forced into a conference the way Penn State was

As much as I would love to see ND excluded it's not going to happen. Too many eyeballs at stake for games for them to be left out in the cold.

How can one be the best in the nation, if they are not the best in thier own conference?

Won't happen. There isn't a prestigious enough conference that they think they would fit into. Their shite doesn't stink, remember?

They can't. However, teams that are the best in the conference can in rare cases be left out of the conference championship game.

South Carolina was better than Georgia this year and got left out in the East. Bama was better than LSU this year and got left out in the West.

At the BCS meetings right now are the commissioners of each conference plus the athletic director of Notre Dame.

They absolutely will be considered and an extra provision will be made for them if need be. No question about it.

Yeah I know there's that current provision with them having AQ status, but isn't that contract up for renegotiation soon?

ND hasn't been ranked at the end of the season since 06'. Their last three bowl games have been the Champs Sports Bowl, the Sun Bowl and the Hawaii Bowl. They are not the "national powerhouse" they once were.

This. Little doubt about it, IMO. Notre Dame will never be left out or strong armed... unfortunately.

Notre Dame has a seat at the table along with the conference representatives.

If you think that would leave ND out, you aren't paying attention.

ND can create their own schedule and make it as easy as they want
At some point ND needs to join a conference
