It's my opinion that LSU is in a better position today now that TJ is gone.

You'll find a better coach and certainly better recruiter out there.

tcu bought 2.3 million worth of dead weight.

now my only concern is the good ole boy network fricking up the search so their boy jones gets the job before others turn us down

You know, deep down I do think he is a decent coach. Look at his record at Nevada and Stanford. For some reason, he made some poor decisions and just couldn't recruit LSU. He could possibly do better at Tcu.

He would not hire any local flavor here recruiting-wise, & recruiting was never his strong point.

He got torched by the State's best player in the media about him depending on the relationship he had with Johnson's Assistant, & criticized him for not showing him more personal attention.

Losing 5 of his last 6 & then having a journeyman type in Hamilton announce he's "going pro" (evidently in Uzbekistan or some sh!t) was a crippler to him.

But as a program, when an also-ran type recruit can cripple your program, then its time to turn out the lights.

He may be a great coach, but going to coach at a school in France-announcing you're doing to do your own recruiting-and then refusing to bring a French interpreter with you kinda sorta means you are going to suck at recruiting there.

I disagree, I think he is terrible. His inability to teach fundamentals and his in-game coaching abilities are poor.

If you're Jim Boeheim, you can afford to teach a zone-system only. You are obviously a freaking master of a coach of the nuances of a single aspect of defense.

If you're any other coach, you need to be able to teach the fundamentals of the game & show versatility.

Beyond that, can ANYONE here describe LSU's offense? Tell us what type of system he ran? Seriously? The guy ran a zone-defense and would let anyone shoot over it because he either didn't or couldn't teach (or recruit) kids who could play man D.

He almost never ran a zone defense... He has a 90% man defense style.

Trent could coach a damn fine defense. He just didn't recruit the athletes or scorers to ever have a competent offense.

Yes.

35ft 3pt shots that hit nothing but backboard with 25 secs left on the shot clock.....taken only by players under 5ft9inches

I am one who hopes LSU get the basketball program back to the top (and that A&M rebounds after a lot of injuries). A&M v. LSU basketball games could be pretty fun. I would also support a meeting at the Toyota Center in Houston. There are so many Aggies and Tigers in Houston, the game would be a 10-minute sellout IMO.

I agree - Johnson was never a good coach and never a good hire. Brady was a fine coach, who took over a train wreck, got LSU to a final 4 and elite 8, and was shown the door for having a couple of bad seasons.

LSU does not always make intelligent decisions when it comes to coaching. Case in point and another example - the disgusting treatment of Pat Henry.

Brady wasnt a good coach. He went to the final four because he had a great AAU team put in his lap that happened to all live in BR. He never mad an elite 8 like you claim (outside of the final four year). And he didnt have a "couple of bad seasons". He had a bunch. He was also a pretty big embarassment of a person.
