Funny that Richt is getting blistered so badly for doing exactly what so many blasted Miles for NOT doing against Auburn in '07. Miles could have played conservatively to set up a 40 yard FG, but went to the end zone instead, and was branded an idiot. Richt does exactly what so many thought Miles was an idiot for not doing, and he's branded an idiot. Kind of funny.

Except the two situations have literally nothing whatsoever in common.

The problem today NUts is that Richt did this in OT and had a fieldgoal kicker that had missed several field goals during the year and as for me , I always supported Miles call in the Auburn 2007 game.

Totally different situations. Miles made the call with 7 seconds or so on the clock when they were down.

Richt made the call when it was a tie and the worst thing a missed FG would do is send it to another OT.

The difference is that Miles done that in regulation with not much time left. If the QB had taken a sack or taken more time to throw and the pass was incomplete, that's the game. Richt should have taken a shot on 1st, MSU was expecting run so he should have called a PA to the endzone to catch them off guard.

Hate to agree with an Aubie he's dead right. Miles was lucky as hell that the time didn't run off the clock on that play ending any chance for another one. I still think he has a clock problem in his head.

God. What I find funny is how an event from 4 years ago gets so twisted after the fact.

Again, ESPN spin did a number on all of you. Sure it was CLOSE, but not as close as you think. 14 seconds to go when ball was set to go. 7 seconds when ball was released. There were 2 seconds on the clock when ball was cuaght.

This isnt luck. This was and always had been a very well practiced timed fade to the endzone that D.Byrd made a great play on.

Not even gonna post the video that shows 2 seconds on the clock when D.Byrd is rolling to his feet celebrating.

2007 LSU-Auburn: In regulation, LSU down 1. LSU in FG range with 6 or 7 seconds left in the game and 1 timeout. The subsequent play would end the game, no matter the outcome.

2012 UGA - MSU: In OT, game tied. UGA in FG range with the clock turned off because it's OT. The subsequent play would not end the game, no matter the outcome.

Miles should have kicked the FG, but took a gamble and it worked out. Richt should have tried to move the ball, but he decided to be a pussy and it blew up in his face. Miles at least showed some backbone and some faith in his team. I'd take him over Richt any day of the week.

Les had no clue where the clock was when the play was called or when the play started. Go find the YouTube of the immediate post game interview. Total confusion.

Actually miles sent that play in with around 25 seconds on the clock. It took forever for the offense to line up and they didn't get the snap off until about 7 seconds to go.

Without going to find the play on YouTube, didn't it take like 40+ seconds to run two plays. There was a lot of wasted clock.

i agree. mussbarger just said ga lost b/c they played conservative.
richt shoulda tried another run or pass on 3rd down. he can give up and kick on 4th. he threw a down/play away.

miles has proven that he gambles and wins almost all the time.

bamaboy, u a troller. u judge lm on au game, the yr he gets bcscrystal?

that game gave him the name madhatter which is now the hat.

Here's the video. Play gets sent in. Flynn then huddles and calls play and the huddle breaks with 19 seconds left, which is plenty of time. Ball is not snapped until 8-9 seconds left on clock but Byrd is CLEARLY down on his back in the endzone with the ball with 3 seconds left on the clock. Watch it.

Still doesn't make them the same situation.

bullshite. Miles response to the sideline reporter was that there was still time on the clock for the FG, if needed. Nothing like criticizing a coach for a "what-if".
