SO what's your point? Does Auburn have a different payscale for 3 star players?

Strangely enough, Dareus was a 3 star. How does a 6'3 300 pound DT that can move like that become a 3 star? Didn't follow recruiting that closely back then so it seems odd to see that now.

Ingram was a 3 star on scout and the 58th ranked RB in the nation.

You need 4 and 5 star recruits to win championships.

And how many 5 stars didn't get drafted in the 1st round? I know of one off the top of my head that also was the Gatorade Player of the Year, Mitch Mustain.

Considering Rivals gives only gives out about 30 5* a year I'd say that getting 6 of the top 10 picks is a pretty DAMN good percentage.

I guess considering that there are 32 first round picks with the possibility of 30-60 5stars being in the draft in any given year.

And how many out of the top 32? If recruiting rankings were so infallible then we should see 25 or more 5 star recruits taken in the 1st round NFL draft every year. The bottom line is that recruiting services don’t have the knowledge or resources available to do a thorough job and they are nothing more than money makers off gullible fans.

He was a four star on scout.com and the #5 DT. His star rating reflected that he was a huge academic risk at the time and not expected to qualify. The biggest goof was rating Ingram a three star with 50 or so RB's rated higher that year.

You're a fricking moron, out of HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of 2-3 stars only 3 were in top 10 picks. Out of about 30 5* there were 6 top 10 picks. Even you can't be stupid enough to look past that.

This is not only true in regards to pro potential, over the past 5 recruiting classes here are the odds for a player becoming an all american based on their star ranking.

5-star: 1 in 13
4-star: 1 in 53
3-star: 1 in 172
2-star: 1 in 744

There are 33 five stars each year. There are 220 four stars. There are around 400 three stars. Do the math.

If you think it's just a mathematical driven event base on numbers alone than you are just ignorant. My point again is that if the recruiting services were everything you Star Gazers made them out to be than you would see the vast majority of the 5 stars taken first, followed by the 4 star recruits, and then the 3 star, two star, and no-star recruits in the NFL draft but that’s not the case.

Recruiting services simply don’t have the knowledge, expertise, or the resources to adequately rank all the HS football players and they rely on ignorant, gullible fans to make their money because college coaches certainly don’t use their services. Based on the frequent responses I see on message boards defending recruiting services’ work it’s very apparent they hit their target market with great frequency.
